I was enjoying a nice stroll around Fisherman’s wharf and felt like a light snack before dinner. I spotted Barb’s Place and recalled reading good reviews. I decided to try their fisherman’s chowder and it was delicious. It is the cream based chowder and was...nicely thickened. You can either eat at tables outside or do takeout as Barb’s is a takeout hut on the water. The chowder came with a nicely toasted slice of garlic bread was also very good. It was the perfect snack. The fish and chips looked very good. I may have to try them some time.More

Great fish and chips. Flaky Cod. My husband and I both got 2 piece fish-and-chips. The guy working there made it sound like it wouldn't be filling but we both could not finish our meals! If eating here, I would highly recommend sharing a 2-piece...or ordering your own 1-piece. Big savings as it can get pricy! Our daughter even loved it!More

My partner and I walked to Fisherman's Wharf from the Inn at Laurel Point. We decided to order lunch from Barb's Fish and Chips. It was a beautiful, sunny weekday afternoon and the atmosphere on the wharf was lovely. We both enjoyed our meals very...much. The fish and chips came with a smallish container of coleslaw. The coleslaw was very fresh - tasting. My shrimp was served with a tangy cocktail sauce and tarter sauce. The shrimp was excellent and I would definitely order it again. My partner was very happy with his fish and chips, noting that the serving was very generous.More

Based on good reviews, we stopped here in August 2020. The fish was just OK - but small pieces; the fries were so terrible we couldn't eat them - white, almost raw and tasteless; the soda was flat - for almost a whopping $4.00??? A...total waste of $35. Maybe at one time they were good. Not anymore. Strongly don't recommend.More

For me the standard for chips is my mom's cooking. If you like your fries pasty tasting then Barb's is for you, use lots of catsup. When I eat at this popular restaurant at Fisherman's Wharf I will skip the fries and just order their...fish, which is lightly battered and juicy. Prices continue to be reasonable here and there are more tables along the wharf to choose from as other eateries are stepping up with a more communal well spaced dining approach. Onion rings are lightly breaded, crispy and delicious.More

We had the halibut and chips at 11 when they first opened. This place many rave about i found it rather bland and dry. I guess we caught an 9ff day?

We had the Halibut and Chips this afternoon. Fish was dry and tasteless. Chips were mediocre. Very disappointed after hearing about this place and reading positive reviews. Will not be returning.

We had the battered halibut and chips with coleslaw they were really excellent and We will be back, the only two things I did not like was the tartar sauce (it was gross) and I will never understand why restaurants put salt on the fries,...I like mine without salt.More

Visited today for the first time and ordered the food for take-out. The fish and chips were great, however once I had left and went to eat my fish and chips I realized I was not given any tartar sauce which was a bummer as...their menu states the fish and chips comes with tartar sauce. The chowder tasted good but it was very thick (thicker than what I saw online or would have expected). Maybe it was near the bottom of the pot, or was sitting for a while? But it did still taste good. The prices were very reasonable as well. The staff were all very friendly and organized, and the food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. Will definitely return and give the chowder a second chance as I think it was probably just a one-time thing. And I’ll just be sure to check for the tartar sauce next time before leaving. Highly recommend this place in general though.More

Hello Dan, thank you for your review. Sorry to hear you didn't get the tartar sauce, this comes with the meal! Our seafood chowder is cream base and usually on the thick side, if you decide to give it another go, please email us at...More
