i do not understand bad reviews for Barb's. i live in victoria and occasion to visit Barb's several times a year. I do not exaggerate when stating I have never had a bad meal there. I alway order the cod and it always comes crispy...with very good fries. they do not serve ``small'' portions. always a 4 oz.+ portion. Bring backed the steamed crab!!!More

We went to Fisherman's Wharf in Victoria to find some fresh fish for dinner. We heard Barb's is a local legend, and we found that to be true! The fish and chips are absolutely delicious! You can even choose which type of fish you want:...cod, halibut or salmon. Each are fried the same way, you just get to choose your favorite. I wish I could have eaten all 3! I had the halibut, and it was the lightest fried fish I ever ate. I don't eat much fried food, but this was totally worth it.More

Better than the last time I was here. I've been a few times, being a local, and find they have a lack of consistency. Today the cod was very juicy, perfectly cooked and the crust was light and tasty. Fries were awful, dry and tasteless....My mother-in-law liked her chowder.More

What a great experience! Sitting on the dock with friends and experiencing perfectly cooked fish and chips as well as the savoury flavours of the seafood chowder! I recommend Barbs Fish and Chips!

I ate at Barb's while on vacation in Victoria. I had the Famous Fish & Chips and although it was good, the service was very slow. The party I was with ate from a different restaurant on the Wharf and they were almost done with...their meal by the time I received mine.More

Cod and Chips were well cooked with a tasty batter. We also enjoyed a bowl of freshly cooked prawns in breadcrumb coating. Chips were fine too. This place is famous for fish cooked 'straight off the boat' in the harbour at fishermans wharf.

Good fish and chips takeaway with covered section if you want to sit. Cod and chips was good and the coleslaw side was delicious. Good fast grub and not too expensive. Walk along the lovely little harbour with floating houses before or after too.

Overrated and overpriced, it costs you $4 to park your car for 1 hour. I ordered the 1-piece cod dinner which consists of a lot of fries a small piece of battered cod, a small 2-inch container of Cole slaw, a pinch of batter sauce...for over $16, no table service and get this if you want to take it out, they charge you an extra $2! The cod batter was saggy and tasteless, the chips cold and over all it was terrible and expensive. If you go for 1 piece halibut is over $20, glad I didn’t let them ruin a good piece of halibut. Certainly now worth the time, price or parking fee. Much better food at Finest at Sea ½ a block away, free parking, fish and chips halibut or cod for $3 less, and the batter is crisp and tasty.More

After four long years, I finally got back to Victoria. As soon as the ferry docked, I headed over to this celebrated chippy. Had a halibut sandwich with fries and enjoyed the atmosphere of Fisherman's Wharf. I could imagine this place (which is on a...floating dock,) really is hopping in the summer. But it was just fine on a blustery spring day, too.More

This place came highly recommended by friends and family. First, a beautiful location down at the Fishermen’s Wharf. I had the haddock and my wife the wild sockeye salmon. Absolutely delicious! Huge portions, tasty and reasonably priced. The other little eateries, shops and house boats...made for a wonderful experience. Go check them out if you want some good o’fish food.More
