This restaurant is always busy. I’ve heard numerous times how good the food is, so I decided to try the place. The room is very well lit and the atmosphere is nice. I ordered the Lasagne alla Bolognese while my partner tried the Tagliata con...Gnocchi. Before our meals arrived, the server brought some complimentary fresh focaccia Bread and Olive Tapenade to the table. The meals arrived a short while after ordering. The Lasagne was ok. It wasn’t bad in any way, but it also wasn’t outstanding in any way. The flavours were good, but not extraordinary. My partner’s Tagliata con Gnocchi (sliced AAA Sirloin with a Reduction and served with wild Mushroom Gnocchi), was disappointing. Because they used a Sirloin cut, instead of a Striploin, it wasn’t tender. It was also very fatty, which meant she didn’t eat 1/2 of it. The wild Mushroom Gnocchi was ok. Overall, the atmosphere was very good, while the meals were just ok. Service was friendly and accommodating.More

Fantastic service, incomparable food and an atmosphere of Italian family love. What more could you ask for on a cold, rainy Victoria evening.

What an Absolute gem, this place was very good food was awesome and the service over the top, i made reservations on line for 6 people at 6 pm Saturday, Only to arrive and fine It was the wrong place there was a covo in...Ontario WHAT !! oops they went out of their way to fined a table for us. and get us in most places would have not bothered to do this I cant say enough about this place staff were the absolute best a true 5 star experience to say the least!!! Was here four years ago during a previous trip to Victoria. Since we were again staying at the Coast across the street, we thought we’d give Il Covo Trattoria another try since we enjoyed so much last time. Good call. Our only compliant during our...previous visit was the service, which was borderline hostile. This time the service was GREAT, warm, friendly, patient. And the food – ohmigod. After every bite the Mrs. and I would stare at each other and make odd sounds of delight. I don’t remember what I had – it was 4 months ago, so let me put it to you like this: We went back the very next night and would have gone a third night had we still been staying in Victoria. Yes, it is that good. Really one of my all-time favorite dining experiences, particularly for the cost. Just amazingly good food, and now, great service. Absolute repeat, every chance we get.More

Late September visit. Food was good as was service. Very poorly ventilated space. Only open door or window was front door at one end of building. One ceiling fan. Hot and stuffy inside. Did not feel comfortable from a covid precaution viewpoint. A few days...later, ++covid symptoms and then +test. A few open windows and a couple of hepa filters needed. Ventilation and filtration should be in every one of these eateries. Won't be back.More

Sorry that there is not a more private venue to express my concerns. After a wonderful meal with a very engaging waiter, the evening was marred at the end. My partner uses a walker--a new experience for us and we are navigating this new world....The way "in "was accessible, but the way out directed us to an exit that was not accessible. When confronted with stairs, my partner fell. Fortunately, with the wonderful attention of staff, he was OK. I think that staff might have directed us to the "in" more accessible exit when they returned the walker to the table. I wish I had been more assertive and defied the direction to walk left, but didn't know that stairs were involved.More

Il Covo is a must-have experience in Victoria for quality, ambiance and uniqueness dining inside or out in the garden. We had a romantic anniversary dinner and our server Romando went above and beyond to make it memorable and meet all our dietary requirements. Highly...recommend!More

We visited this out-of-the-core restaurant back in May of this year. It was a rainy day, but an early reservation made it easy to park right out front. A reasonably good table in a very dark corner was made available, and we were greeted by...a friendly waiter who was relatively new. Looking over the menu, we decided to start with a half litre of the house red (Italian, of course, and surprisingly good with our food). The other wine choices entered the ridiculous category – there are a lot of good Italian reds out there that would fit the 35.00 category quite easily. We were presented with a small bread plate that included vinegar & oil that was tasty (though not in the same league as the superb and generous bread dip at Il Terrazo). The shared Caeser salad was plentiful and tasty and just enough given the main portions. I had the delicious (and very hot!) Lasagna, and my wife enjoyed the Tagliatelle. She commented that the beef was delicious and very tender. Without question, well prepared food. Not being big fans of desserts, we chose to end the meal with a couple decaf cappuccinos. Simply delicious…and delivered hot which isn’t always true for Victoria’s restaurants! Choosing carefully allows you to have a good, value-oriented meal at Il Covo. And you should be satisfied with the portions offered. We will be back ! There are just a few things that can be improved from our standpoint. One, the lighting could be brighter...several people had to read their menus with cell phone flashlights. Two, be a little more generous with the nice bread plate offered. And finally, please transition into the new millennium by changing to online reservations. Having to wait until late in the day is inconvenient for your customers – make it easy to book a table at any time of the day without being put on hold.More

Amazing service. Food was incredible. I was sad when my meal was over because the flavours were so incredible. Knowledgeable staff that gave perfect service.

A wonderful experience for our first dinner in Victoria. Absolutely loved the outdoor patio setting.! The service and food was very good as well.

Linguine Mare Monte, the special of the day, an unexpected pleasure. Drink special “Giardino fella Farfalle” was a nice twist to a gin sour. My friend ordered the veal scallopini with cute little twist pasta, called trophie, made in house. It was light, flavourful and...quite satisfying. She ordered to drink the “La sirenetta”, or mermaid drink and it was very good. Atmosphere was very pleasant, and Dominic our waiter was exceptionally friendly which helped make our dinner experience special.More

We were looking forward to this restaurant as the hotel staff highly recommended it. The Maitre D was stuffy and rude. The servers were OK though not particularly friendly or charming. And then the food was disappointing. If this were a cheap restaurant it would...have been passable but for the price and reputation it was very very disappointing . I suggest you give this place a pass and go to IIl terrazo or Pagliaccis instead. Both serve better food with much less attitude.More
