After a couple of difficult years surviving on take away business, Kissako is back serving the very best, most delicious sushi in their cosy little restaurant. We live in the neighbourhood and our favourites are miso soup, spicy agedashi, seafood salads, nigiri of all kinds, literally all of their rolls, tempura and more. We have tried nearly everything on the menu over the past 5 years and have always felt deeply satisfied.

This is the best little sushi restaurant in town. I haven't written a review before because I don't want them to get too busy and not have room for us! We have been going since they opened and it's pitch perfect each and every time. Absolutely delicious.

This restaurant is small, maybe about 7 tables and it is run by a couple. Their food is delicious, fresh & the sushi is in good size pieces. They make the best Udon soup fresh with every order and their Luncheon specials are very reasonable. Tempura excellent, Service Excellent & everything is very tasty. They are open for Lunch and for Supper. They will also do take out.

Excellent rolls, agedashi tofu was top notch, and cones were packed full of fresh tuna (more tuna than rice!). Overall, fantastic food. Great job.

Kissako is our go-to place for a Japanese meal when we didn't feel like cooking. It's just a small, friendly place to wind down. Food is reasonable and consistent.

A Japanese restaurant in the heart of the very English Oak Bay is unusual maybe, but this is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Victoria. Owned and operated by a Japanese couple, every dish is lovingly and expertly created, It is a very relaxing atmosphere and the sushi here is excellent. It opens at noon.

The service and food here are excellent. The fish is fresh, the toppings and sauces flavorful and the portions large. This is some of the best sushi I've had.
I'd give it a five but the venue is a bit 'cramped'. It's a very small place so it can be a bit 'tight'.

This sushi place is located in oak bay which is cozy, quite and the location is a little bit hard to find. But inside of the kissako sushi is great: neat and small, but full of people down there. I ordered the chef’s special which I do recommend. It contains salad, spiced tuna and sushi in this bowl. That is another good deal beside the lunch time’s bento box if you want to try the multiple favours at once.
The owner is polite:)
Good experience generally.

Trip Advisor does not have a criteria for “Keto Friendly” restaurants. Those of us on the low carb high fat food choices wonder if the restaurant will give some good options, especially in a mixed group. Japanese food/sushi restaurants are naturals for this food choice. Here, local sustainable seafood (salmon, local tuna, sometimes halibut) is sliced in small sashimi pieces, not large portions but suitable. The Bento box choices are good value with lots of flavours, fish, salad and a carb (brown or white rice) which I dont eat. The Udon soups are well prepared although noodle heavy. Needs a seafood option though for soup not just beef, chicken and veggie. The shrimp salad is a great mix but I’m not sure if seaweed salad is a good option, the dressing seems very sweet and likely has syrup or a sweetener added. Any of these resturants may be adding significant MSG to their foods, just ask them. MSG is a big insulin trigger and not a good part of a keto choice.

I go to Kissako Sushi often. Kissako is a bit of a hidden gem in Victoria's sushi scene - it's in Oak Bay, away from downtown. Service is exceptional, portion size is perfect, flavour is never compromised, organic ingredients are most often used, and the food I have had is always fresh and delicious.I do hope you enjoy!

A couple of miles from the busy harbor area is charming Oak Bay Village. It is here that you will find the local gem Kissako Sushi.
A very friendly couple has created an intimate but unpretentious restaurant. Fantastic sushi at very reasonable prices. We had walked from the downtown area through the beautiful neighborhood around Government House (highly recommended), and arrived hungry! I ordered several rolls and nigiri all of which were fresh and delicious. The star was the Red Dragon Roll featuring a topping of spicy tuna that was absolutely sweet and wonderful!
We will return to Kissako very soon.

We were visiting from England. My daughter in particular loves sushi. We booked a table in advance on line after reading all of the excellent reviews. We weren't disappointed. The service and the food were first class. And a good price as well. Just wished we lived a bit nearer!! We would be in there all the time. Highly recommended.

Owned by a very sweet Japanese family. We eat a lot of sushi but we liked it here because it was different. They add their own little twist to popular sushi dishes. They spicey agidashi tofu was great. They family is very friendly and kind, you can tell they area passionate about the food they create.

This cozy place fits roughly 16 sit-down customers but you get the full attention of the artful chef and the sweet server when you dine here. Sushi and sashimi were so fresh and tasty -- the food really stood out in quality. I was in shock. I have eaten run-of-the-mill Japanese restaurant food too long. And the udon soup?! There was so much flavour and substance in the broth that my kids wanted to ORDER MORE. That has never happened in any restaurant we've visited, and they are sooo fussy. The only downside we can see is that service can be slow if the place is busy. We are definitely coming back.

My friend and I were so appreciative of the care that is put into these meals. Eva and her chef husband pour their love into each plate and into each guest.
