Food is OK. Met expectations. Not exceptional. Pricey for a Hong Kong style Cafe. Can accommodate larger groups. Lots of other places nearby to eat at if this place is busy.

Gloucester Restaurant has been in business for many years. It is the typical Hong Kong style cafe. They have the HK style coffee and tea, plus many other Asian drinks. If you want to experience a HK style fast food experience, give it a try. Food is definitely good...Many options from Asian style steak (lots of sauce) to fried rice.... More

Whether its a Chinese Style Steak, a Onion & Green Onion Halibut Hotpot or a Peatip Garlic Sauce, they serve a very tasty meal. You also get a free soup and drink with your meal. To me the service is very good especially the waitresses, Sa and Suki.

Frankly, there are not that many goto places in Vancouver if the sudden hunger hits you late in the evening, especially in the Vancouver West! I for sure would find a eatery that I know I won't be disappointed (ie, delish, inexpensive with a decent ambiance). And Café Gloucester always comes to mind. CG has been around for years... mainly... More

Every time I come back, me and my family go for either lunch or dinner. Today was no exception. With friendly staff and delicious food, it's no wonder the atmosphere is always bustling. Today, we ordered four things: Soya Beef Fried Noodle; Baked Pork Chop with Curry Sauce with Rice; French Toast; and my favourite, Beef Brisket Fried Noodle. Soya... More

Admittedly, I've only ever had the chicken fried rice. I CRAVE it, it's that good! I brought a friend there (who's in Hong Kong every other week) and he said it was the best he's had as well. Very authentic Asian cuisine.

The service there is mediocre. When I was there, I ordered the chicken bowl, but it never came. It took us a while to find a server (they were too busy), but eventually they did come, and the chicken bowl came. It took about 20 minutes to come in total. Servers not good at English. However, in general, the service... More

Have been trying a new restaurant each week in Vancouver, and one of my friends recommended this place. The name is a bit confusing as the food is oriental. It was lunchtime, and the restaurant was busy, but we managed to get a small table for two. It took us a while to order, trying to figure out which picture... More

Been here 3 times now with different groups of people. This time with family just meeting to have a quick informal dinner together. Food is above average, the combos are strange but they seem to work as I look around at the different tables and there are a lot of combo plates. Probably best value for the money I would... More

This is a local Cantonese favourite for good HK cafe style food. Extensive menu. Parking is always a problem.

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighborhood Profile
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
