Great lunch special!

We have lunch here all the time. We always ofer their lunch special for 12.50$. It's Delish!! Kerrisdale roll, spicy tuna salad and miso soup. We usually get there at 11:45 so we can still get a table. You can try to find free parking but we usually just pay at a meter up the street on 41st. It's... read more

This is a quaint Japanese restaurant located just off the main street of Kerrisdale village. The menu is extremely lengthy providing a wide range of choices for purists of Japanese food and those who prefer western dishes. Food is well presented with accompanying miso soup and salad, and is generally tasty. The problem here is the service. Waiters appear rushed... More

I can't believe this restaurant has the audacity to claim to be the best in Vancouver. I went in and the interior was spacious so my initial reaction was quite good. But I soon started to realize my disappointment when it took forever for my food to come out. The service was not very good either. I ordered the most... More

This is our favourite neighbourhood sushi house. The food is authentic and excellent. We also use the take away and are never disappointed.

A nice sushi experience in a vibrant Kerrisdale location serving up what is always a good meal unfortunately hampered by mediocre service. No particular dishes stand out as exemplary and there are decidedly many other superior sushi restaurants abound. With that said, Shota has a nice atmosphere supported by a convenient location and decent Japanese food that stands out above... More

I have written to the owner but have received no reply. I told her I was going to comment on Trip Advisor and I request a reply and a refund. The food was passable though bland. It was the service that was abominable. Some young guy with absolutely no personality served us. We waited 25 minutes until he took our... More

The place is spacious and the menu is extensive but the food is mediocre at best. It's more about quantity than quality. The rolls are massive yet uninteresting. I had a soft shell crab don and the crab was fishy and chewy. My partner had the Hamachi bento box and although there was a good variety in her bento, it's... More

An early evening dinner with my daughter. Her choice for sushi my choice for a location close to home. A wide range of both traditional japanese meals with many modern interpretations such as Tropical Mango Sushi. We loved the new place settings with sushi images on the plates and tea cups. The range of family sizes and mixes attests to... More

On a business trip in Vancouver, I decided to treat myself to a nice meal one evening. Shota is a Japanese restaurant in the popular Kerisdale neighbourhood in Vancouver. I made the assumption that a restaurant in this area would offer excellent Japanese fare. I was wrong. I had the prawn teriyaki main. It was completely ordinary and virtually tasteless.... More

It was our daughter' s b- day so decided she would like sushi, so went on a Saturday evening without reservations. The menu had a good selection of choices and found prices higher than a lot of Japanese restaurants. Recently came back from Tokyo in the summer so I found the smaller size sushi quite authentic, although a few reviews... More

Staying in Kerrisdale

Neighborhood Profile
Kerrisdale
Kerrisdale is Vancouver's laid-back shopping district. In contrast to Robson Street, there is more on offer, at more competitive pricing and a slower pace. Called "The Village" colloquially, over 200 storefronts and one-off shops crowd its streets with products and services. It is set in a comparatively sleepy part of town, with tasteful homes and tree-lined walks. Many of its buildings are listed on the Heritage registry, making it a wonderful place to amble and take in the visual history. Moreover, Kerrisdale's healthy consumer culture is especially apt for those interested in culinary, specialty, or children's shops, boasting more of these than anywhere else, meaning that it's a busy spot for families and hobbyists on the weekends.
