I live 20 minutes away and 2 to 4 times per month I go to Caffe Barney's specifically for the West Coast Salmon Benny with chunky potatoes and black coffee for a total of $20. I really enjoy my breakfast there. I will sit at the bar and chat with the staff as they're very friendly.

I've gone twice in the last 30 days. I don't think I'll go back. My wife and I went. We ordered the calamari. We got a very slimy, chewy squid swimming in some soggy green. Went again with my brother-in-law. We tried the deep fried calamari. Slightly crispy but no tzatziki and more slimy greens. The bill came and we... More

South Granville is starved for decent places to eat at an affordable price and Caffe Barney is the prime example of how mediocre places manage to survive in this neighborhood despite of themselves. The food is overpriced for how phoned in it is and drinks are all a dollar more than they should be. Service has never been great here... More

My wife and I were going to a reception just down the street from Caffe Barney. We stopped in a two other places and one was closed for a private function and the other did not serve until after 5:30. We then happened by this place. It was not too busy but it was 5PM so that might be why.... More

The food here is just ok and as such very expensive for what you get. The tables are crowded. The menu is boring.

As we were in the area, we stopped in at the newly-renovated Granville Street location, in our old neighbourhood, to see how the old Caffe is. Not bad at all. Service was very pleasant, staff friendly, welcoming. Atmosphere is relaxed and conversation as a murmur, so you don't have to yell across to one another to be heard. This level... More

We were wandering Granville St and in order to keep shopping with a happy hubby I needed to find him lunch. We discovered this bar / breakfast / lunch eatery. We sat at the bar as we like to do; menu was mostly brunch like but we had a cob salad and Chicken Avocado wrap. Both very good. Wrap came... More

the menu is reasonably interesting but the food that arrives is a little less so. We each ordered a different Benny. Eggs nicely cooked and a good hollandaise, but the smoked salmon and shrimp portions were tiny. Delicious side of potatoes and decent coffee. Nothing wrong here but would try somewhere else versus return. Service was pleasant.

The occasion of our lunch at Caffe Barney's as visitors from Victoria, was our day in South Granville which is an annual event of 25 years with good friends. This was our third visit to Barney's and I so enjoyed the Seafood Pie. It was scrumptious topped with a fluffy light crust all served with efficiency and good grace. My... More

For years, both Caffe Barney's locations have been the "Go To" for weekend brunches. Good Food. Reasonable Prices, Great Coffee, Great Water, Great Beer...what have you. What made the brunch was the efficient, humorous, courteous & professional service by Robin @ 9:00am!!!! She handled 20 persona on her own in a really comfortable way, and exchanging quips from the rest of... More

Staying in South Granville

Neighborhood Profile
South Granville
The neighbourhood closest to the airport, a generous mix of locals and tourists populate the area. The blend has made it a go-to spot to find an eclectic collection of entertainment, from theatres and cinemas, to antique stores and last-minute kitsch souvenir shops. It gives off a transient vibe, and is one of the more higgledy-piggledy areas in terms of what you'll find, making it a fun area to explore and map out, all while taking in the hectic atmosphere of people coming and going, while others look for the best ways to spend their last few hours in the city.
