From the street, this restaurant looks like just about any other neighborhood eatery. On a Sunday evening about a third of the table were taken, so the service was quick and the food was surprisingly good. Butter Chicken was advertised on the reader board—we choose it and the Mulgai Paneer Jalfrezi. Both were exceptionally seasoned and not overly oily as... More

We used to dine at Jolly's frequently because of the numerous Groupon offers. We were back in our "old neighborhood" and decided to pay Jolly a visit again. As usual we attended at about 5:00 PM so that we could sit at the only window table for 2 persons. Our evening meal of coconut prawns, butter chicken and goa fish... More

Tiny place on the South side of West 4th Ave, just West of MacDonald St. with an owner-chef which features trans-Indian inspired cuisine available in not-spicy and mild for timid palates or full hot by request.there are maybe 10 tables, lights are low, soft, hanging drapes define the ceiling, decor is discreet and appropriate and the servers are in costume.... The Indian food at Jollys is very nicely spiced without being over the top. The naan is different and very good. The staff are pleasant, attentive and the service is quick. Decor is unassuming, but comfortable and inviting. My two friends and I enjoyed our meal here, and also, the price was good. Would come again.

A nice short menu meant that everything was cooked fresh. You could see the 2 chefs beavering away in the kitchen. The food was good value and tasty. Service was good.

We've been to Jolly's Indian Bistro a number of times over the years and have considered it one of our safe staples when we go out - that is, when we want tasty, healthy food at a reasonable price. Usually it is just that, but last night something was off all the way around. The food, when it arrived after... More

If you're used to British Indian restaurants, the shortness of the menu here might be a shock. All main courses come with pilau rice and naan bread - no deliberations over carb choices here - and there is a short list of mains. But it was all very tasty and the service was the high standard you expect in Canada.... More

This neighbourhood Indian bistro in Kitsilano on West 4th near MacDonald is reliably good. The food is more delicately prepared than in many of the 'authentic' Indian establishments in South Vancouver and vegetables here are still recognizable as such. Breads are lovely too. The food is not as complex as VIJ's and the atmosphere isn't as vibrant, but the prices... More

Both meat and vegetarian Thali's are designed, to treat the heart and appetite to variety and a surprising delight of flavours. The samosa appetizer is served with a chickpea sauce, large enough to share. Thalia come with both papadam and naan. The eggplant dish is memorable. A feast with leftovers and then dessert. Good selection of beer on draught and... More

Jolly's is a small Indian restaurant on West 4th in Kitsilano. It has been there for a while, but I went there for the first time last month. It was pleasant and the Lamb Rogan Josh was delicious. My friend had the Butter Chicken which was good - not the best I have ever had, but still good.

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
