A group of four good friends, originally from Toronto celebrated a reunion at Kingyo. The short description is that we had a blast over wine, pitchers of Sapporo beer and plate after plate of delicious food, fun chit-chat with charming staff and a gently raucous atmosphere. Cannot remember what we ate, but it was delicious and uniquely prepared and presented.... More

We came here on our last trip five years ago. Decided to come back here again and the food was nice. We didn't book, went there when they opened at 5:30pm, managed to get a table but had to be out by 7pm. We enjoyed our dinner there but I felt it is not as good as I had it... More

I'm back from my vacation and out of everything we did and ate, I'm thinking of Kingyo... The kobe beef on the hot stone.. The pork donburi special... uni sashimi... takowasabi.. salmon carpaccio...Ebi tempura... The kobe beef on the hot stone.. I guess that was the winner. Wish we went earlier to try a limited bento box. Wonder what that's... More

The ambience is great, they open till 1130pm, service is excellent! We ordered: - bibimbap with pork - highly recommend this as it is flavorful with generous chunks of pork belly meat - tan tan noodles - slightly disappointed with the lack of minced meat in it though the broth is good - fresh melon sangria - have never seen... Wow! We passed by many restaurants before reaching this one, it was very busy but we were fitted in without waiting. The food was absolutely delicious, we all had different choices.the service was excellent, atmosphere buzzy, obviously popular.

And I could as I live two blocks away! But I would be 800 pounds...but filled to the brim with tasty food like fried corn, Kakuni bibimbap, Kobe beef and their famed lunch deluxe bento box ( go early as the make less than 20 a day?). Go for the bento...it's that good.

This has been one of my favorite places to eat. Especially at lunch. I go there once a week. Or I did. We ate there today. Usually it is lined up when it opens at 11:30. Not today I wondered. We sat down and were handed a menu which was obviously new. The prices have risen dramatically - around an... More

My wife and I dinned at Kingyo twice in one week. We didn't have a booking the first time so sat at the counter. We had the beef cooked on the hot stone also the prawns in batter and the black cod. All was delicious and served promptly and professionally. The second time we made a booking but they seemed... More

We make this a stop every time we are in Vancouver. Make reservations as we failed to do it this last trip and ended up waiting 2+ hours to be seated for dinner (party of 6). The sashimi is to die for. We had the yellowtail and the bluefin tuna this time around and both were melt-in-you-mouth delicious. We also... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
