I've had dinner at this restaurant many times and each time been quite satisfied. I really like their burger and find it a special unique treat. The charcuterie plate is always a good choice with tasty cheeses and meats. I've also enjoyed the lamp. Excellent choice of beers and a short but well chosen list of wines. The cocktails are... It's too bad the service is so bad at the Cascade Room because it has a lot of things going for it. Decent food, a small but decent selection of craft beer with ten ounce glasses that are about half the price of pint sleeves, and a beer engine for real cask ales. We had the misfortune of arriving mid-afternoon... More

Pulled this up on OpenTable and booked a table without any issues. Ordered the Steelhead Trout with an Orange Glaze over a bed of chickpeas in a creamy sauce. Fish was done to perfection and one of the best meals I've had recently. Vegetables were flavourful and not overcooked. Acoustics made it a little loud, but food was well worth... More

First came in 2011 and had the best veggie burger of my life (vegetarian 23 years). So delighted to be back this summer and wasn't disapponted, although the recipe wasn't the same. Fantastic service from very happy and efficient waitress. The young kids in our party were welcomed and nothing was too much trouble.

While visiting Vancouver we stayed at the Best Western Plus just a block from the Cascade Room. We ate here the first evening in town. It was a quiet Sunday evening, but the food, beer and service was very good. We returned a few evenings later when we needed a quick meal before a concert. Once again food and beer... More

Came across this while staying nearby. Really enjoyed the Sunday Roast that was on offer. Friendly staff. Lovely Creme Brulee. Participates in Mealshare charity.

Visited with friends as I was looking for veggie poutine (had never had it) and this place had been recommended. I wasn't disappointed with the mushroom gravy goodness on chunky fries with 'squeaky cheese' . So tasty I'm actually craving it as I type. My husband had the steak with fries and was absolutely delighted, he said it was cooked... More

We only had a few drinks for happy hour there and we were really happy. Service was great and super fun atmosphere. The food kept passing by ad looked really good!

I loved it, I was disappointed by it and now I strongly like it again, but it's not love. I do still miss the beef sitting in mash with red wine sauce. Some times you just want a chunk of meat. Great wine, craft beer and cocktail selection. Fast paced staff (it would be nice to see a female trained... More

Enjoyed Saturday night atmosphere, music, vibe. Food didn't take long to arrive , service was alright, thoroughly enjoyed their Mac and cheese and Tuna tartare. Nice neighborhood joint, parking can be a challenge on a rainy night...

Staying in South Main

Neighborhood Profile
South Main
South Main, or SoMa, is a neighbourhood in upswing. Inhabited by young humanitarian professionals in converted lofts and studio apartments, what was once an industrial centre is now a wellspring of vintage and eco fashion shops, contemporary sawdust-floor galleries, craft beer joints, and basement acting studios. All set to an Art Deco background with a strong blue collar sensibility underpinning each new pop-up and foodie trend, SoMa is on the rise.
