Just a block from the mobs this pretty small cafe is a refreshing find. Choices include salads, sandwiches, soup, and pasta. Boys raved about the pasta with Alfredo, the sandwiches were good but not spectacular. The staff take obvious pride in this little establishment and make one feel welcome.

We were looking for a place for lunch and happened upon this place. I had the salmon on focaccia bread--the salmon melted in your mouth. Absolutely delicious. My friend had a seafood dish. It was also delicious. If you are in the Gaslight district be sure and stop in.

We were looking for a place for a late breakfast and found La Brioche. Display had some great pastries but between us had a reasonable cooked breakfast, excellent meusli with yoghurt and an great tasting toasted salmon sandwich. Great choice of teas!! and the liqueur coffee was a real hit. Nice efficient staff..

We were surprised to find a meat-lover's quiche on their lunch menu and had to try it. The portion was large and freshly made. There are vegetarian choices also available on their menu. While were there, many folks came in to pick up take-out orders so it must be popular with locals picking up meals to bring back to their... More

This small cafe was near our hotel and we had breakfast here three times in a week. The portions were huge (you might not need lunch!), the food excellent and the presentation wonderful (why can I never make my food look so good!) We didn't eat here for anything other than breakfast but the other food options looked very appealing.

Don't pass this place up. They are in a small location in gastown, not directly off of water street, but there is a cut through to get to the restaurant from water street. Everything is made fresh on site, pastas, sauces, and pastries. I had the tortellini and it was delicious. They had huge pastries in their cabinet that looked... More

It was raining and to early for lunch. We stopped for a cup of coffee which was strong. Not sure if I would stop here to eat. The place has a cozy quaint feel to it. They have wifi access.

we were surprised for a bakery and small place that the bread was a bit stale. the food was good however the ravioli (asparagus and ricotta) was smothered in the tomato sauce that had a lot of great veggies and mushrooms but was a bit overwhelming. the caesar salad was just ok. the soup on the other hand was good.... Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
