This somewhat quirky but great restaurant is an awesome place to eat for budget friendly folks or those who appreciate a tasty filling breakfast. Don't be fooled by the exterior, which looks a little home made and dated. The food here is so wonderful you won't care. I recommend the hash, and ask for authentic Hollandaise Sauce with it. Also,... More

This is a quaint place to have yummy breakfast! You get to seat yourself when you come in. The service is friendly and attentive. Decor is casual and quiet, which is a great place to have conversations while enjoying your meal. Their menu is extensive and value priced. Their portions are huge, so come hungry. You may need take out.... More

We enjoyed our Dutch pancakes and nasi goreng fried rice for brunch. It was busy and packed with regulars. Good service from the waitress and fast. Will repeat. Very homey decor, lived it.

Great filling breakfast with interesting Dutch kitschy decor. Loved the authentic Dutch menu and fusion style breakfast choices. First Dutch restaurant even though it's mainly just breakfast it's worth trying. It's a diverse menu with even some curry and other unexpected variations on breakfast foods. Loooove the strong tasty coffee and wow, super fast meals. Very friendly staff and might... More

My first time here, the menu was quite overwhelming because it's so lengthy with so many choices! I ended up getting the Dutchman style breakfast platter with spek (dutch bacon) including 2 eggs, toast, salad and hash browns for $9.95. I didn't want the hash browns and was able to get extra salad instead and it was all very hearty... More

Dutch Wooden Shoe is an old school breakfast place on Cambie. The ambiance a little divey; it hasn't changed much since it opened in the '70s I'm sure - and it's a little dark in here. I'm not usually one for changing old eateries, but they would be well served to create bigger windows in the front. Two reasons -... More

So this is my new favourite breakfast! Too bad I don't live anywhere nearby. Tons of options (sweet and savoury), quick service and wonderfully quirky atmosphere.

this place has been around for as long as I can remember. very nondescript entrance and I've often driven past it thinking it was further down the street. easy enough to get seating on a weekend if you get their as they open at 8 but it quickly fills up by 9. big menu! but I usually stick to the... love this strange place. Reminds me of my basement in the early 1980s; faux wood panelling. The food is good and filling. Great brunch place and open early on weekdays too! Too many choices in my opinion. I always get the hash.

The menu is one of the largest I have ever seen. Ordered a pannekoek and eggs hollandaise scramble that comes with raisin toast and an authentic apple sauce. Both were incredible! Service was average, decor is older but gives the restaurant charm. Definitely will be returning.

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighborhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
