I love the food here. They give the most generous portions I have ever seen! My favorite is the Molten Tofu on a bed of quinoa, broccoli and spinach with a delicious peanut sauce. The service is usually very fast unless they're really crowded, as is the case every evening, so I come in the afternoon when it's relatively quiet.... More

My friend bushwhacked me, I was bamboozled, ambushed, give the ol' gypsy switch. He told me he knew where the best nachos in Vancouver were, so we went and he was right! We gorged ourselves on the delicious platter the size of a newborn fawn. They were crispy and delicious! I ate until I had almost made myself sick. Then... More

Service was very friendly here! I went over the May-long weekend with a friend and we had a great time. Food was fresh and creative! So much to choose from, and we ended up paying around 36 dollars for both of us: 4 full dishes! (haha so much food this covered our afternoon snacks and dinner as well!) Who said... More

It has not last anything since my previous visit some time ago. The Yam dip was great and the chilli fantastic.

I've often heard good comments about The Foundation, but never had an opportunity to check it out until recently. If I were to describe the menu as sandwiches and salads, that might be accurate, but it wouldn't do justice to The Foundation's offerings. Somebody needs to invent some new words for food this good. Fresh greens, excellent dressings, totally satisfying... More

I recently visited here for the first time, with my boyfriend on a short trip to the city. They had tons of great vegetarian and vegan options, and everything on the menu looked so yummy! My boyfriend had the mexican one, and I ate the peanut one. Both were very delicious, although the peanut one was very rich (I recommend... More

I love the food at the Foundation - can recommend their PPP and a salad with goat cheese and pear. The reason why I don't go there more often is very loud music. It is impossible to hold a conversation unless you are screaming. I once asked if the music could be turned down and was refused. It was maybe... More

I prefer vegetarian food whenever I can get it. This place is packed and trendy grunge, complete with young people having a ball. They didn't mind "grannie" dropping in. The food is hearty and substantial. The greens are fresh. My only request is that the dishes could have been spicier. I admit that I love garlic, chili, paprika, cumin or... More

This is an "average" rating, as the service was possibly the worst I've ever seen at a restaurant but the food was really delicious. First the good: the ambiance in enjoyable here, with a busy hum and it's extra cool to see the kitchen staff working on old conventional ovens, turning out amazing plates. Each meal we saw go by... Some of the best vegetarian food I've had. Played it safe and had pasta but will definitely be back to try some of the other delicious looking dishes.

Staying in South Main

Neighborhood Profile
South Main
South Main, or SoMa, is a neighbourhood in upswing. Inhabited by young humanitarian professionals in converted lofts and studio apartments, what was once an industrial centre is now a wellspring of vintage and eco fashion shops, contemporary sawdust-floor galleries, craft beer joints, and basement acting studios. All set to an Art Deco background with a strong blue collar sensibility underpinning each new pop-up and foodie trend, SoMa is on the rise.
