We heard a lot of good things about this place from friends so we had lunch and, another time, tea/pastries here. The staff are friendly and the portion sizes are large.

Came early on a Sunday morning with some vegetarian friends before their flight. I had the tofu dragon bowl. Loved it. Plenty of food in the bowl, never needed to eat for most of the rest of the day. Flavourful and full. Potatoes done just right for texture in it. Would definitely come back for more

This vegetarian restaurant reminded me of all the things I loved about the 60s. The Naam emphasis is on natural and organic foods served by delightful people who enjoy being there. I had the tempeh burger platter and it was great – an overflowing plate of food that was interesting as well as healthy. They have the best gluten-free burger... More

In Vancouver for work 10 days and we came here everyday for breakfast - we did not get tired of it. There are many alternatives available nearby but, vegetarian or not, you can count on a good meal. There are several high protein options and fresh coffee and juice. The place is open 24 h so it is never too... More

Even though any of us are not vegans we enjoyed food served in Naam restaurant. California burger + beer was very good choice.

We came here because of the raving reviews in various guidebooks. Unfortunately, the naam did not meet our expectations. Service was friendly but the whole place looks run down and in dire need of refurbishment. The food was ok but nothing special. We had much better vegetarian fare at other places. Overall, not worth the trip.

The Naam is a great place to eat vegan food. Their prices are very reasonable, portions are very generous and they use lots of organic ingredients in their recipes. The wooden floor and tables create a warm, rustic ambience. Located in Kitsilano, close to the beach. My favorite dishes are the brown rice bowls, homemade lentil and chana dahl soups,... More

Easily my favourite place to eat to this date. I live 7 blocks away but frequently walk here to eat rather than choose anything closer. The food: So many gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options to choose from. The shakti cake is a must. I would pin it down as healthy soul food. Big portions as well! The atmosphere: Eclectic... This organic, vegetarian, retro restaurant must have been one of the first "alternative" restaurants from the hippie era. It dates back to the 60's and I wonder how much has changed since then? Naam is extremely popular and attracts huge crowds of mostly millennials (and middle-aged hippies) who are quite happy to queue for 20-30 minutes to wait to be... More

Hello Janie, Thank you for composing such a well-though and insightful review of The NAAM. You are right, we were one of the first vegetarian restaurants in Vancouver and in fact are the only one to still exist today. I am so happy that you enjoyed your meal but will add to our lovely server's apologies in that I am... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
