While on a walk on Commercial Dr. , Vancouver, I decided to stop for lunch at Take Thai home. I had the BBQ chicken lunch . It was not as tasty as I expected it to be. i had visited this restaurant another time with my wife and food was very good. Service was good. I will try one more... More

Visited Take Thai Home for a late lunch on a Sunday. I really enjoyed the fresh exotic flowers on every table. That was the best part of the meal for me! I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The Ginger chicken dish I ordered tasted like the meat was old and twice cooked. My friend was unable to eat... More

I ordered take-out. Service was speedy and prices are fair. I ordered: Deep fried tofu appetizer - Crispy coated chunks of tofu, spiced just right and served with a peanut plum sauce. Yum! This was so good I came back for it the next night too and for only $6.50 it's a great dinner eaten by itself as it comes... More

Underwhelming, we tried this for take-away based on other Trip Advisor reviews. Really people? Pad Thai was OK, nothing special, the spring rolls were filled with something ground up beyond recognition but the real disappointment had to be the Panang curry. Very runny, not at all spicy (we were not given the option of adjusting the heat) filled with lots... More

Simple dishes that are always tasty. Good value for money. Casual and easy place to go with family and friends for a Thai home style meal.

I've worked down the street from this restaurant for many years. I used to frequent it quite often, but as happens sometimes, I drifted elsewhere for a long time. A few days ago I popped in for lunch and it was scrumptious! There's a lot of curry to choose from, but I chose the red curry with pumpkin and I... More

We happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped in on a whim. What a reward, pleasant atmosphere, really attentive service, and the two plates we had were tasty. We started with the Pad Thai, simply delicious. Next came the Tom Ka gai, it's a spicy coconut milk soup with Thai herbs, mushrooms, and chicken. It was excellent. We can't... More

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighborhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
