Great high quality Japanese food. Having many favourites for Japanese food in vancouver I have found myself back agin in less than a week. The fish is fresh and the spicy tuna roll was one of the best I have had. Takoyaki and butterfish were also top notch. Well done shiro

We shared fried white fish (mehikan), eggplant with a sweet sauce, agadashi tofu - all were quite good and tasty. We each had miso soup on the cold winter night. My wife had beef teriyaki which she said was good. I had crunch roll and spicy salmon roll both fresh and tasty. We ended with house made trio of small... More

I was told this is an old favorites and local residents and I have noticed also Japanese clients too. Cooking may not be the best but sharp pricing with reasonable variety. recommended.

Unpretentious and authentic, this place made me feel welcome walking through the door - really! I've never been so warmly greeted, I was instantly at ease. As a solo traveler I sat at the bar. Locals visit, tourists take note. Prices were excellent. If you're not concerned about dining in a fancy interior, this place is a good choice. I... More

This is a tiny restaurant in a strip mall that a tourist would be unlikely to notice but I am saying this right now to all tourists, take notice of this restaurant!!! The food is fresh and of good, solid quality. A good variety of nigiri, rolls, and appetizers. The sashimi is AWESOME!!! I swear, it's consistently delicious every time.... More

Some spots in their parking lot otherwise try the side streets. You have 2-3 guys working fast in the front at the sushi area so the wait for any dish very minimal. Blue fin tuna and hamachi shashimi excellent. We also had raw Ebi, wild salmon, scallop sushi, deep fried eggplant, gomae, monkfish liver, California roll with fresh crabmeat, green... More

this place is great, it has been open for some time and the atmosphere really reminds me of the sushi restaurants here in vancouver of the 1980s or 90s. The sushi is very good here, however I was with a vegetarian friend and there were not too many options for her.

My family goes to Shiro often and has been going for a long time. The food quality is very good and their Tuna Tataki and spicy salmon sashimi are always ordered by our crew. Service is fast and friendly and the small room is cozy and comfy. Their are trendier places with longer lines in the neighbourhood, but Shiro is... More

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighborhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
