Never been here before but always walking by. Well ordered a birthday cake (the Broadway) and have to say everyone thought it was incredible, beautiful and elegant. My friend had a raspberry scone and she thought it was the best. Went back to take one...home but unfortunately sold out. We will all be back. Txs.More

I’d been here once before, many years ago... my parents were in town and we have been to many of our faves before so I decided to take them to The Blue Hat Bistro for something different. It did not disappoint... Clams, Beet Terrine, Salmon,...Duck and OMG... the Chocolate Budino!! We will definitely return, this time for the Friday night Buffet (it’s either the first or last Friday of the month... can’t remember which right now).More

Excellent muffins! What a great location - no need to go all the way into Granville island if you want a good coffee and some food.

We only discovered Blue Hat Bistro through Dine Out Vancouver and were blown away! The 3-course lunch menu was only $25 and included beautifully displayed dishes made with fresh ingredients creatively combined to make a delightful meal - impressive! Talk about the perfect balance of...excellent food with a lovely water view (Granville Island), gorgeous elegant decor and engaging service. Service was wonderful. Not totally professional, less 'elegant' than one would expect, but friendly, knowledgable and 'real'. Michael seemed genuinely invested in our overall experience. He's very special. We highly recommend the Blue Hat and would definitely return ourselves.More

We were on a Road Scholar tour of Vancouver and it included a visit to the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts. The tour that Chef Ben gave us was great but the lunch we were served was wonderful. The service was friendly and informative. The...food was spot on and delicious. The setting next to the water was comfortable and scenic. It, all in all was a great dining experience. I will go back to eat there next time we visit Vancouver even without a tour.More

The restaurant is of moderate size but spacious. Tables near the kitchen may find it noisy. They offer a fixed price menu with five or six options in terms of appetizers, main courses and desserts. The quality of most dishes was quite high but my...vegetables were under-cooked. The service was professional but very slow.More

Matthieu the Matrie’d welcomed us and as it was September explained that the students had only been cooking in the kitchen for two days as it was the start of term. Before that , the students had spent three months in the classroom and kitchens...perfecting their skills. Under the watchful eye of Chef Alex (a former student from some years ago) the meal that we were presented with was outstanding. We had Duck Croquettes to start, followed by Beef and I finished with Pavlova, my sister a cheesecake. All the food was delicious and presented so beautifully . We had three courses for 35 Canadian Dollars and a delightful glass of Malbec was just 10 dollars. Matthieu was very attentive and we received excellent service. One of the best meals I have had anywhere in the world. Booking and eating here highly recommended . It was one of the highs of our two week trip across Canada.More

We were here 5 years ago when it was called Bistro 101 and had been looking forward to returning. We loved it even more than the first time. We arrived a day early because I had it wrong on my calendar, but Matthieu, the maitre'd,...was able to accommodate us and a beautiful evening ensued. My wife started with a Trout Rellette which could be best described as a smoked trout pate served with housemade crackers. It was light, subtle and delicious. I had the duck croquettes but they didn't come close to the trout. For entrees, we had Baked Arctic Char and a Double Pork Chop. Both were superb but the smoked apple butter serve witg my pork chop took it to a whole new level. (WOW). Desserts, consisting of cheesecake and pavlova turned the dinner into pur decadence. Matthieu is a trained sommelier and a font of knowledge as well as being quite personable. Don't miss this gem of a restaurant.More

Despite average service, I’m rating this a 5 because the food was excellent and our server was very friendly. I recommend everyone add this to a lunch spot list when visiting Vancouver @ Granville Island.
