Everywhere I read before we came said this is the best French restaurant in the city an I did not disappoint. Staff was amazing waitstaff was knowledgeable and kind. The restaurant itself was a good size and we had a nice table in the corner by the menu. I always make a request in my reservation for this as I... More

Have experienced good French cuisine in Quebec. Le Crocodile in Vancouver exceeded my expectations for Canadian city as distinct from a French Canadian city. The food and service were good and what was an even bigger surprise, the place was packed mid week. While the wine was expensive it was not touristy. One of the better restaurants we have been... This restaruant was recommended and was close to our hotel. Very enjoyable, food was delicious, wait staff was French, my only complaint, please get better olives for your martinis, otherwise very nice experience and I always enjoy French cooking.

Yes I have reviewed the Crocodile before since we come each year to Vancouver . However I feel that being so constantly excellent deserves praise and recognition. This is a very top chef who preferred to have only one restaurant and be excellent rather than having several like many chefs do .. The quality of the ingredients is top ,... More

And I only say lunch because I have never been for dinner. The food is fabulous, all the extra little treats, the service is the best - attentive (always remembered who I was) but not intrusive, the chef creates wonders from his kitchen. I worked around the corner from this Vancouver gem. And once I discovered it, I returned over... More

I asked for a recommendation for a good French bisto from a local store clerk in the very nice shopping area of Vancouver. She recommended Le Crocodile, Restaurant Francais. I reviewed the menu posted outside, and I could immediately tell this was the place for me since I did not have to even go beyond the list of appetizers to... More

The food was delicious and very nicely presented. The staff/waiters were attentive and courteous. What I did not like was the seating arrangement. We sat near the entrance despite reservation.

There are not to many fine restaurants that can celebrate 30 years in the business and this place will be celebrating many more years to come. We discovered this gem back in the late 80's when the chef Michel Jacob first opened the restaurant in a smaller place on Thurlow street. It was no surprise that he quickly outgrew that... More

Our final night in Canada and one of the best, Although I had booked the previous week as we passed bye this was on Saturday evening and consequently busy, so we did have a lateish booking and it was also still some time before any food arrived, A comprehensive menu of classically orientated dishes had almost to many must try... Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
