Mixed emotions. The service was prompt and efficient. Extra touches were great-- amuse bouches, those delicious shoe-string potatoes. The main courses were well-received by our party. My sole was delicious. The decor is in need of an update to keep pace with Vancouver's other restaurants; in fact it looked a little too DIY. I found that the ambience suffered as... More

Classical French cuisine taken to its most sophistication and extreme. Only the finest ingredients are used in the meals that are all tasteful and elegant. We make sure to have dinner at La Crocodile at least once a month. Reservation is a must

In my opinion this is the best restaurant in Vancouver. I eat out a lot and this wins hands down. Terrific food and service in the French but not snooty style. It is not a trendy restaurant and so is over-looked in some popular rating systems. Only a kitchen that is superb can offer the extensive menu and daily additions... More

Excellent food, lovely atmosphere. One of the best kitchens in Vancouver. If you are looking for a special dinner, Le Crocodile is not to be missed.

Special touches that keep you coming back: *An amuse bouche (A tuna/egg tart at our visit) from the chef at the beginning of your meal, *Wonderful bread in the bread basket. *A basket of crispy pomme frite for the table. *Chocolate crocodiles, both milk and dark, served at the end of the meal. And as we prefer dark, they changed... More

Le Crocodile has been around for years and many times gets missed with the new kid in town. However, the consistency of the quality of this restaurant it's service and it's food is one of the best that Vancouver has to offer. I love bone marrow and Le Crocodile does it right. They are known for their onion tart..not my... More

Our 20th Anniversary dinner was a great success! My wife used to go to Le Crocodile frequently before we met and married - however she moved to Calgary (kicking and screaming...) and we never had the opportunity to go to this restaurant in the years in between. It was well worth the wait - what a pleasant, professional, unpretentious place... More

The choice of going "german" or so it seemed was average at best. Way too much pork and especially sausage for most palates. And sourkraut served under the alternative whitefish offering? Very odd choice for fish. The salmon mouse was outstanding. Fixed price menu way too high for value. Our first chance to eat at this normally great restaurant and... More

We had a superb meal here just before Christmas as an extended family group. The food never disappoints, simply (and richly!) delicious. The service was on point as usual. We have been eating at Le Crocodile since the first small restaurant around the corner; at least 27 years. We have taken many visitors and friends here for a meal and... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
