It has been a while since a restaurant hit 5 stars for me. Le Crocodile surpassed our expectations. We arrived casually dressed with no reservation and were handled with friendly service and immediately seated. Service remained perfect throughout the evening. Every dish was immaculately presented and delighted the tastebuds. The best steak tatar I have ever had, and the onion... More

This is a restaurant whose staff know how to make a dining experience really special. As soon as we were seated, our waiter arrived to discuss the specials on the menu that night. We were unfamiliar with some of the items, but he was patient, fun and helpful in helping us make choices. We chose a speciality advertised in the... More

Excellent food and service! Wine selection is a bit thin in "by the glass". No Haut Medoc 😩! Everything else excellent.

My wife and I had a lovely three-hour dining experience on Bastille Day. The menu and wine list reflect French traditions using new world ingredients. The service was leisurely and gracious. This is a bit of a splurge, but well worth it.

This is a small restaurant with incredible food. Do yourself a favor and go. It's a great place with a friendly staff. I have a friend that is there now that is going to go as soon as possible. I wish I had taken a picture of my fish; it was amazing!!

We were invited to a birthday lunch at this lovely restaurant. So happy someone else was picking up the tab. ;-) There was a wonderful selection of specials as well as a delectable regular menu. The amuse bouche was a lovely tart with tomato coulis. I opted for the beet salad (red and golden) with buffalo mozzarella as a starter... More

This was, perhaps, my 10th visit since I dined at the original location more than twenty years ago. This is a classic French restaurant and you should know that from the outset. The menu is broad and deep with the classics and various takes on the classics. Flavors were first rate, but some may say seasoning is too restrained by... More

We ate at Le Crocodile for our 41st wedding anniversary and the whole experience was just delightful. Our waiter, Elliot, was one of the most experienced waiters I've ever had the pleasure to deal with. He was friendly, without being obsequious, knowledgeable, and very attentive. It looked like he was mentoring a new hire and his manner with him was... More

We arrived around 8:00pm without a reservation after a day of sightseeing and dressed in shorts, hoping for a table. We were warmly taken to a table immediately. We ordered a beer and wine and although I wasn't crazy about the first wine they graciously brought another that I liked much more. We ordered main meals only and food just... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
