3.5/5. Our meal here was good but not exceptional for what we paid. The pros: Service was friendly. The meal came with pleasant surprises throughout, like a mini quiche starter, shoestring fries, and sorbet and crocodile chocolates to end the meal. Staff recognized I was pregnant without my saying so and did not add liqueur to my sorbet. I enjoyed... More

This is a fine dining establishment, and the food was quite good. My entree of tempura lobster with scallops was the star of the night, but my partners duck course was like function food and the crab cake entree almost tasteless. The young maitre D must have trained in Paris he was so arrogant, and for no good reason, a... More

It is not very often that you have a perfect meal, but I will say that this meal was flawless. The service was terrific, the restaurant is very pretty and the food was delicious. I began the meal with a beef marrow appetizer that was amazing. My husband and I ended the meal with wonderful desert soufflés. The menu was... More

Le Crocodile is an excellent French restaurant whose chef and his team are highly skilled and clearly love and respect the food they produce. We had a beautiful dinner there on our last night in Vancouver and it was the perfect end to our stay, however expensive the bill.

And not as expensive as some of the other fine Vancouver restaurants. Delicious sauces, meats, fish, veggies. Everything is superb (maybe excepting the bread). Good but not perfect service. No views. Quiet--no problem hearing the person diagonally across the table. Highly recommend.

We dined at Le Crocodile during our trip to Vancouver. It was my first experience with French cuisine and I am impressed. The restaurant has a very unique atmosphere, great service and good food. I would recommend making a reservation in advance. The dish that was my personal favorite was foie gras creme brulee, which is served as a part... More

First of all, remember that Canada is a little pricey in general over the USA--but the exchange helps. The hotel clerk recommended this quaint little French restaurant and since we had just departed a Celebrity cruise second rate food was just not going to do. We ordered two starters and a lobster pasta to share along with wine. (The split... More

Lovely restaurant and a very friendly staff at the hostess desk. Once seated the staff was less engaging and definitely a disappointment. The waiter was very matter of fact and the sommelier was not very helpful and when i found it necessary to pour more wine his comment was you should not have to work. That is true so why... More

The food was divine and the service impeccable. We came for our 53rd wedding anniversary lunch and we lucky to get a table. The room was beautifully appointed and the menu choices were numerous and reasonable in price. The service was quick and attentive. . I choose the scallops with a mushroom soup first course and my husband choose the... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
