We have enjoyed many trips to Vancouver and yet somehow have managed not to discover Le Crocodile. Once we found it--address is on Burrard Street and physical entrance on Smithe Street--we fell in love with it. From the time we walked in the door we found Le Croc to be most welcoming. It looked like what a traditional fine dining... More

Called the restaurant, as we were running 5-10 minutes late. The person at the end of the line asked us not to worry and to just to make it to the restaurant "safe". Struggled for a good 10 minutes looking over the menu because I left my glasses. Not to worry... server offered a tray lined-up with reading glasses of... More

Upscale traditional French cuisine served in a warm inviting atmosphere. Diners are mostly older 50-60 some with younger family members(30-40) also the business crowd. Staff were welcoming and upbeat. We started with the famous French tart and a crab salad. Both were excellent. My wife asked for a lemon drop martini but it came in a rocks glass. We asked... More

Delicious French cuisine (we had lunch), lobster bisque, mushroom soup were tasty, the lobster tempura excellent. If i had to nit pick, the service was a tad slow getting started (bringing menus, drinks) but once under way, no complaints. A bit of a splurge but worth it!

We thought this place might be too fancy for us but they were very hospitable. It's definitely a bit more up market but the food was absolutely delicious. There were foodie presents from the chef - delightful. Pricy but worth every penny.

Still THE best restaurant in Vancouver, by far! The food: Formidable! Excellent indeed. The service: Hors pair! First-Rate as always. Our waiter Brian Cole, now known as Brian Cool, dances around the room with elegance and poise. He made me drool just by reciting the specials of the day. He knows his foods. The Owner/Chef Michel Jacob conducts his kitchen... More

Vancouver has lots of great restaurants which deserves five points - but Le Crocodile stands out among them. The food is just magnificient: every dish we have tried were something special, taste, presentation, size all perfect. The service is also flawless if a bit stilted. Dont miss it - and book ahead!!!

We only go to this restaurant once a year and for a good reason. The food is incredibly rich: lots of butter, garlic, lemon and sauce. I am not complaining but just cautioning those who have clogged arteries. If not, then it's worth the visit because the food is delectable. My husband ate the escargots for an appetizer and said... We frequent French restaurants as we love their food but this is the best we have ever been too. Gorgeous decor, attentive staff, our server was the best we have ever come across, 3 chef specials for entree , main and dessert and she told them like a story teller , she did it so well you wanted to order... We always come here for special events like New Years Eve which is probably the dumbest way to assess a restaurant. "Would you like a cappuccino with your coat & hat sir?" So a weekday evening dinner was literally a nice change of pace. The menu is daunting with chockablock of choices. But then the waiter launches into his sonnet... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
