We were somewhat confused by having had four different servers during our meal. Not sure if this be a contemporary technique. The meals were all tasty and filling.

We came here for brunch and had a very peculiar combination of dishes to share--venison burger and merguez sausage tajine with a side of spicy potatoes. A wonderful complement of flavours. The burger (as often here in BC) was slightly overcooked but still juicy enough. Unfortunately our coffee only arrived with our entrees (hence the 4 stars... A pretty big... More

YES! The food was great but honestly will think twice before going back. We were a small group of women and perhaps that was part of the problem??? We were basically ignored much of the night but the big issue was when it came time to pay our bill and we were left waiting for ages. Having to flag down... More

This is a great restaurant for that something a little different! Interesting menu with great service makes for a great evening dinner. I am a meat & potato guy and I found something on the menu (no potato!). Our server was first class from start to finish, I had the tasty veal, however the lamb shank is my next meal... More

I. LOVE. THIS. RESTAURANT. SO. MUCH. Seriously this is one of the best places I've ever eaten at. It isn't a new restaurant which is a sign that they are doing something right. The charcuterie was amazing. Mussels were perfect. Cheeseboard was incredible.

For some reason it has taken us along time to finally check out Chambar. The ambience is sophisticated, yet not stuffy. The staff are very professional and accommodating. Our server was smooth, attentive and helpful. Wine list and knowledge is very good with lots of options. The food here is special. If you enjoy serious gastronomy where every bite has... More

Chambar is a long-time favorite, and its new location is superior to its old. The amazing selection of Belgian beers and fine food makes a meal at Chambar an experience to take ample time to enjoy.

I have not been here in 8 years! I had dinner with friends at Chambar and the service and the food was impeccable. The restaurant is busy and has a great feel to it and I noted that the staff seem to enjoy working there - always a good sign. I ordered bison carpaccio, white wine mussels and Gorgonzola Poutine,... Had a delicious trout bowl. The food is beautifully presented with nice flavours. Good wine choices and very yummy. A bit pricey!

Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
