Chambar is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in Vancouver. The ambiance is wonderful, and the food even better. If you're a fan of French Bistro food, then Chambar hits the spot. If you've ever wondered what the fuss is all about with Fench cuisine, then this is a very good introduction, as well. Chamber is knows for their... More

Okay I'll admit I was not initially planning on going to Chambar... I did a yelp search breakfast in the area and the first hit was a place a few doors down. But the lineup there looked over an hour long. In contrast, we waited for less than ten minutes at Chambar on a Sunday morning around 10am, as long... More

We visited twice during our stay as we were so impressed by the breakfast here. Nice presentation, intelligent staff and quality fresh food. I had the granola which was huge - not over-sweetened- and came with lots of fresh fruit and a dollup of mild plain yogurt- super satisfying. We also tried the waffles ( they are not huge -... More

This is a fabulous place to eat, take friends and see beautiful people too. Took friends family over from U K. Busy happening and always buzzy place. Great drink and wine menu. Close to Queen Elizabeth Theater and Rodgers Arena, so its always hard to get in on nights when these venues are happening..so book after 8.00 after shows have... More

My wife and I always like to treat ourselves once in a while to the mussels and duck gnocchi here. The mussels are always plump and juicy and the duck breast is always juicy. The portions are very reasonable as well! Overall, it's a great spot for a nice dinner downtown!

We decided to go for lunch to one of our most favorite restaurants in Vancouver, Chambar. We've been there four or five times before and every single time the food was amazing, mind-blowing. So the expectations were high, even though we've heard of the ownership change. Previously we've enjoyed European, Belgian dishes in such inventive interpretations and tastes that were... More

We visited Chambar with a group of 7 and everyone enjoyed themselves and the food. The restaurant is in an older renovated building and was very busy with a real vibe. They offer a good variety of food and an impressive wine list. The food was excellent. Service was attentive though a little overly dramatic at times (our waiter displayed... More

This is a delightful gem in Vancouver. It has patio seating if desired. The food quality is fantastic. Lots of really great food on the menu.

First of all, the servers are fantastic, running up and down a flight of stairs for their orders! Second, they seemed to enjoy their work. Thirdly, the leather clad baguettes were evocative of Indian influences. Finally, the food was a surprise, I ordered Thon Au Miso, an ahi dish and was surprised by the heat and spice. Also, both of... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
