Service good. My crab salad and my wife's endive salad were excellent.. My boeuf bourguignon had tasty red wine jus but the meat was very fatty and, for me, inedible and my wife's gold river sockeye salmon was dry. $5 for a small amount of crusty bread and butter.

As you well know lots of things make up a great restaurant. Service - menu - price - ambience - and most importantly the wine list. :) Bistro hits all the spots. The service be it brunch - lunch - dinner is superb. The staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The menu and the plentiful daily specials always... More

There was never a miss in the lovely menu we were served. Probably, though, the Sockeye Salmon on a beg of eggplant ragout over couscous was the most amazing combination. But then it is hard to improve over their other fare like Bouillabaisse, steaks, meats and fish. Appetizers, salads, desserts--all excellent. And the Service was, well, professionally French waiters. Nothing... More

Bistro Pastis is a French restaurant that serves really good French cuisine. Their souffles are always amazingly light despite using different cheeses when they change the menu, and the quiches and omelettes are perfectly cooked. The gazpacho, the soup of the day, was totally delicious, perfect for a warm evening during the Vancouver summer. I like their duck in particular,... More

We had a great meal at Bistro Pastis. The tuna dish was particularly good but so were the veal sweetbreads and others. I think it is safe to say that, probably everything on thr menu will be tasty. We found the menu to be different than other places we dined at, i.e., no kale Cesar Salad for example. The dessert... More

Excellent service, great cappuccino, duck breast was cooked perfectly, although the kale was a bit too salty,.. the veal is cooked until it flakes off your fork. Duck confit was just like in France. Nice wine selection for the money. Overall a quaint little hideaway right on 4th and Arbutus. Seating,..if you want action sit near the window looking onto... More

The service and the restaurant was very good. Oysters were great and most food items were priced reasonably for the price. Steak was not the best I've ever had for that kind of money but everyone has a bad cut every now and again. I would still go back. Everyone else loved their meals as well.

Whenever I am in the city, I make it a point to visit Pastis. Great French food at reasonable prices. At lunch we had their egg/bacon salad and beef Bourgogne. We splurged with a liter,of Côte de Rhone. And finished with the creme. And it was all wonderful. Many thanks

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
