When visiting Vancouver BC make sure you make restaurant reservations well in advance as we failed to do so and were unable to get into the higher rated during our week stay there. Two of the restaurants we were unable to get into were the Blue Water Café & Raw Bar and the Le Crocodile. However my wife and I... More

Coast is in an excellent, central location (especially if you are staying at the Vancouver Fairmont), and for a casual dinner we found that it ticked the boxes - the food and service were very good and it had a pleasant ambience.

We had some guests in from out of town and were looking for a somewhat classy fish restaurant to show off our city a bit. I ordered the catch of the day -- halibut -- the others had the trout and the salmon. My very costly halibut was a good large piece but was completely without taste apart from the... More

This was a treat and a delightful experience. The Caesar salad was a creation of itself. The selections of locally caught and sustainable fish and seafood are comprehensive and prepared with imagination and genious. Romantic and sultry.

Ok I have to admit it this is my favourite restaurant in Vancouver. Everything is so fresh from seafood to the best dessert even called Nibs :) Saying this you will find the world famous crab cakes ever. My partner didn't believe me but with 95% crab, Steve is now converted.

We went to Coast for a late dinner, being supposedly open till late night. It was about 11pm. So we have been seated and everything looked good until we received from the waiter a "late night menu" which was not even close to the normal one, even less about seafood which is the presumed speciality of the place. So, one... More

Whenever family comes to town I try to fit in a dinner at Coast. Always good food and friendly service. A bit pricey but well worth it.

My boyfriend and I came here, as it was recommended in Lonely Planet. The food was tasty (we both preferred the appetizers - crab cake and octopus carpaccio - over our entrees - seafood stew and halibut), but slightly expensive for what it was (and that's saying a lot coming from New Yorkers). Service was good, though when we were... More

We decided to step out of our seafood restaurant rut and try somewhere new. If it's not broke don't fix it! We will be going back to our standby in future. Service was fast to the point of pushy. So much for a leisurely night out. Soup was delivered before we had finished our oysters. Food was mediocre at best... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
