We desperately needed the lovely quiet candlelit setting of this beautiful restaurant with it's well trained charming and attentive staff after our first few Vancouver city days at cacophonous hip downtown restaurants. We were sorely disappointed by the quality of the food. Our fish wasn't' bad', it just a bit 'fishy' tasting and wasn't as good as the fresh fish... More

Six of us had dinner at Bishop's this past weekend (July 16,2016). Eat there just once and you'll know why it is such a Vancouver food fixture after some 30 years. John Bishop is the ultimate host. He moves seamlessly from table to table, ensuring everyone is enjoying their evening. The food is fresh, farm-to-table, and creative. The decor is... More

It's a favourite of Vancouverites. Service is professional. Food quality the best. Cozy atmosphere. Not sure why it's not ranked in the top ten other than its location not being downtown. No gimmicks or trendy. It's just solid quality.

We tend to enjoy eating on vacations and appreciate hearing from others about culinary experiences that remain etched in one's memories. Our evening at Bishop's was such a special experience. Located in the trendy Kits Beach area on a street that includes many boutique shopping experiences, the small, two-level, cozy restaurant is welcoming. The FOH staff was engaging without being... I went to Bishop's with my mom and her cousin to celebrate completing my Masters. The food was incredible, you can tell it is prepared with love and skill. The room is also lovely, not as modern but relaxing and peaceful, a great place to connect with your dinner mates. The staff overheard that I was there in celebration and... More

Don't blink or you might miss this somewhat tiny restaurant location in Kitsilano, Vancouver - and you will not want to miss out on this fantastic eatery. The menu is definitely fine dining, but its waitstaff and host make one feel right at home. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed as if they were inviting... More

Upscale and cozy; outside the downtown area, though just a short cab ride; more in a neighborhood. It was truly one of our best dinners in Vancouver. The menu is not large, but is supplemented with some specials. Loved the terrine, mushroom ravioli, tasty sirloin with morels, and an excellent confit of duck, one of the evenings specials. A delicious... More

What a gem! We have dined here a few times over the years but it has been a while since our last meal at Bishop's. After last night's lovely experience I can think of no better place to go in the Lower Mainland for a fine dining experience. We were warmly greeted by all the gracious staff as we were... More

It had been an embarrassingly long time since I'd been here - maybe 12 years or more. The room was as I remembered - elegant, clean, contemporary and inviting. Service was professional, prompt - I would suggest at the top of their game with John Bishop was working the room. The food - remarkable. I had a seasonal appetizer -... More

My wife and I recently had dinner at Bishop's on the occasion of our anniversary. The experience reminded us of why this restaurant is still one of the finest in our city. The evening started with a warm welcome by John Bishop, Abel, the Maitre d and their team. The room is warmly decorated with beautiful works of art. The... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
