The service is superb from start to the end. The food is very good, however not the best in Vancouver. Great for special occasions.

We were greeted at the door by Mr Bishop. This restaurant exudes class. Bishop's has been on the Vancouver restaurant scene for over 30 years and continues to flourish. The mains were perfect. The same servers continue to work there and they know how to provide excellent service. This is a must do in Van.

2 visits this summer. Initially slightly 'thrown' by the 'new' faces front of house - but within minutes feeling as welcomed and comfortable as ever. Superlative service and sensational food. I know nowhere I'd rather be.

Our meal at Bishops was close to perfection. All of the dishes were refined and well conceived. Seasoning was perfect without any overpowering tastes. You can tell that the Chef, who is Portuguese, places a great deal of thought and time into the composition of each dish. If in season and on the menu highly recommend the chanterelle mushroom ravioli.... More

Loved the art, loved the service, loved the food. Very good for the foodie visitor to Vancouver (me) as all ingredients are local and staff is extremely knowledgeable. Very nice feel to the dining room. We'd be regulars I imagine if we lived in this beautiful city.

The exterior of this restaurant is quite unassuming. Inside is a tranquil, cozy, two level dining space. The menu emphasizes the freshest ingredients in the local markets prepared with great care. Many staff members have been with Bishop's for years and their dedication shines through in the friendly service. John Bishop himself often stops by for a welcome. Highly recommended.... More

Went with an older family member who has trouble with crowded noisy restos, so we were looking for a quiet location. Fine looking room, lots of space between tables, excellent waitstaff. The menu is limited and focused on local and seasonal content. Execution was outstanding. Particularly memorable were the zucchini blossoms and the lamb. Good wine list, heavy on Canadian... More

We desperately needed the lovely quiet candlelit setting of this beautiful restaurant with it's well trained charming and attentive staff after our first few Vancouver city days at cacophonous hip downtown restaurants. We were sorely disappointed by the quality of the food. Our fish wasn't' bad', it just a bit 'fishy' tasting and wasn't as good as the fresh fish... More

Six of us had dinner at Bishop's this past weekend (July 16,2016). Eat there just once and you'll know why it is such a Vancouver food fixture after some 30 years. John Bishop is the ultimate host. He moves seamlessly from table to table, ensuring everyone is enjoying their evening. The food is fresh, farm-to-table, and creative. The decor is... More

It's a favourite of Vancouverites. Service is professional. Food quality the best. Cozy atmosphere. Not sure why it's not ranked in the top ten other than its location not being downtown. No gimmicks or trendy. It's just solid quality.

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
