First time back since pandemic. Everything was just as good as we have greatly enjoyed over many years. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. He recommended a killer Brunello that we absolutely loved. A shellfish linguine and special of pork tenderloin with mushroom sauce were...excellent. This remains one of the warmest and most authentic rooms in Vancouver.More

This was our second dinner at Arriva. We were here once before during Dine Out Vancouver in early 2019 and enjoyed our meal so wanted to try it again with their regular meal. The place is very busy and servers were struggling to keep up....Perhaps the shortage of staff in restaurants post lockdown has affected this but capacity should be adjusted to meet the staff available. Service was very slow from being seated to even being able to order. We just sat there for 30 minutes sipping water waiting to place our order. The server did apologize for the wait. It was a very slow process with the food coming out slowly as well. We were starving by the time it arrived. I was uneasy by the fact no staff wore face masks. It had only been 2 weeks since masks became "not mandatory" but are still recommended. Considering most have not yet had a second vaccine it was disappointing to see no servers wearing masks. All other restaurants and fast food joints are still wearing them and in my opinion they should continue to wear them until the restrictions are fully lifted in September. With a packed place and your meals being carried from one side of the restaurant to the other, it would just make many people feel more comfortable if servers wore masks for now. No one wants to worry about the pandemic when they are out for a nice meal. Otherwise the food was excellent, nice sized portions, good prices, and friendly staff (just not enough).More

Didn't need resos on a wednesday night. Tables are socially distanced and all servers wearing masks. We ordered the Grilled calamari feature appie, the linguine pescatore, the mixed grill feature entree and the creme caramel for dessert. Food: Bread starter: served with olive oil &...balsamic vinegar, standard - bread was fresh and soft and moist, but not warm Grilled calamari: delicious, so flavorful and thinly sliced, very delicate and delicious. Served with greens which were also really good. My friend thought it was so good they should add it to the regular menu Linguine pescatore: delicious as always - I order this every time and it's always good. Clams, mussels, scallops and prawns in a tomato sauce - the sauce is delicious, the shellfish is good and the pasta is cooked perfectly. Mixed grill - sausage, chicken and lamb served with pasta - my friend said it was good. Creme caramel: the one thing I didn't love. It was a little too cold at first, and it didn't taste fresh or homemade - sort of like something you could buy in the store. Also it had a sort of bitter/alcohol taste which was a little strong. Service was on time, water glasses were refilled, servers were polite, we never had to wait too long for anything. We ordered promptly, got our food in a timely manner, and plates were cleared and we were asked all the right questions (how was the food, do we need anything else, do we want dessert, drinks, or coffee etc.). Overall very good - i am so pleased they are still open through the hard times restaurants have had this year.More

Returning once again to one of our favourite restaurants in Vancouver, after a longer than normal absence due to the COVID situation, we were so excited about dining there again. As we had consistently experienced over many years, the restaurant was as wonderful as always....All the dishes that we ordered were absolutely delicious and the service was truly professional and welcoming. Paolo, the owner, is to be highly commended for maintaining such excellent standards over so many years (i.e. 30+). Well done, and we really look forward to our next visit to one of the few authentic Italian restaurants around.More

We ate with friends and were very disappointed with most aspects of the experience. The venue is very ‘70’s but clean and reasonable space between tables. We ordered bruschetta to start and after 15 minutes had to ask if they had our order. We tried...to get the attention of our server, finally by waving our arms in the air, and were completely ignored while she chatted up the table across from us which was her only other occupied table. Finally one of the other servers came over and advised that the bruschetta takes 20 minutes to make! It finally came and was hot tomatoes on toast. I know bruschetta changes regionally in Italy, but that is one variation I have never seen in Italy. It was completely bland with half a caper per slice and I might have seen a tiny shred of basil. For main I had osso bucco which was tough with overcooked veggies with their signature lack of any flavour or seasoning, and my partner had bland carbonara with overcooked pasta. Out table mates had cannelloni which had a pale tomato sauce and the other had spaghetti and meatballs with the same bland tomato sauce and overcooked pasta. In short the service was abysmal and the food bland and poorly seasoned.More

Group of 10 to celebrate the holiday season. Drinks came fast, food ordered was served hot, Italian dishes, including crab linguine, fettuccine Americana and tortellini cardinale were all very tasty and filling. Our food, however, was slow in coming, maybe because of our number and...variety of dishes. I would go back but make a reservation earlier (arrived at & PM) so as to not gulp my food down.More

I have given it a four but if you could rate the stars, I would actually give it a four plus for the food but a two for the service. We hadn't been to Arriva's for years but It use to be one of our...go to places. I was happy to see a lot of the standards still on the menu and I had been dreaming about the picante prawns since we decided to go. I was so happy that they were still on the menu and they were just as good as I remember. You need lots of bread for that sauce! The tiriamisu was also as I remember and one of the best around for traditional style tiramisu. There were five of us and all of or main courses were good. Some had pasta dishes, some had meat dishes but no complaints. Our only complaint was a server. You want a friendly experience but that isn't what we got. The fime of the food delivery and everything was good, it was just like we were doing her a favour by being there. Maybe she was having a bad night. We would give it another chance (especially for the prawns and tiramisu)More

Arriva Ristorante Italiano is located in on Commercial Drive in the heart of Little Italy. We booked a table for 12:30 on this November Friday and the restaurant was had less than15 customers. I picked this restaurant after having a look at the some of...the reviews on the internet. The restaurant experience was off to a bad start when the young buser looked at us and walked away twice; not even an acknowledgement that we were there. We were seated a few minutes later and it wasn’t even busy. We were here for a business meeting and ordered the following for the 3 of us: • Antipasto Misto all'Arriva ($16.95 for two) - salami, cauliflower, 3 or 4 small pieces octopus, bell peppers, olives artichoke, beans, sundried tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, tuna salad, 1 stick Mozzarella and mushrooms. Good sized portion. Above average rating at 3.5 out of 5. • Insalata di Spinaci Freschi (Spinach salad - $7.95) with a Caesar dressing and Parmesan cheese. Small serving but the price reflected it??? See photo. I was expecting an olive oil based dressing. What we got was a Caesar dressing that was really garlicky! Might as well have ordered a Caesar salad. I confirmed with the server that it was a Caesar dressing. This salad was not for me and the general consensus with this dish was it wasn’t good. 2.5 out of 5 rating. • Insalata di Pomodori (tomato salad for $7.95) – a simple salad of sliced tomatoes with fresh onions, drizzled with olive oil. Nothing exciting. 3 out of 5 rating. • Ostriche al Vino Bianco e Burro ($10.95) - Oysters in butter, white wine and lemon. 3 very large pan fried oysters- slightly fishy taste. Just okay dish I would rate 3 out of 5. • Mix Grill ($25.95) - 1 Italian sausage, grilled chicken breast, 2 ribs rack of lamb served with string beans, carrots and large fingerling potatoes. I would rate this dish as above average to good at 3.5 - 3.75 out of 5 rating. • Linquine Pescatore ($17.95) – seafood linguine with mixed shellfish in cream sauce. 3 mussels, 3 clams, small scallops; maybe 2 or 3 were over cooked, a couple of prawns and a few shrimp. I changed the sauce from a tomato sauce. I thought there could have been a few more ingredients. The dish looked a little dry but the dish was tasty. 3.75 out of 5 rating – good. With a $62.50 bottle of red wine the bill came to $163.95 before the tip. Breakdown of rating • Food quality and taste – inconsistent food quality. Best tasting dishes were the mix grill and the seafood linguine. The appetizer and the salads were disappointing. • Value vis-à-vis portion size – average value. • Service – food arrived in a timely manner. The young server was nice but didn’t check back on us. Overall, an average lunch experience. I would rate it a 3 out of 5. Notes & Tips: • Telus wifi • At least 10 vegetarian pasta options plus other choices • Seating for 80 plus a semi-private room off to the left of the entrance • Metered street parking on Commercial Drive. Limited free residential street parking in the area • Check the website for additional information. Menu on website may reflect dinner pricing. I didn’t see a lunch menu.More

We went here to meet old friends at the suggestion of one of them . We were looking for a place with good food where we could also sit and catch up. Arriva fit that bill perfectly. It is located in the Little Italy section...of Vancouver. Don’t let the outside fool you. Once inside the service staff was attentive but not overly so. The menu was really varied and allowed for sharing dishes (sometimes we seem to do more often now). Wine selection was ok . Prices reasonable We throughly enjoyed our time talking and reminiscing with interruptions only when necessary. We were the last ones to leave but were never bothered. We would go there again maybe sooner than later.More
