Recent visit to Arriva confirmed my opinion that the food is mediocre, service barely ok and prices way to high for the quality on offer. The menu is large but absolutely boring. It would be ok if the classics were done to perfection but they're not well executed. Much better value can be found for the price...

Arriva mixes classy and casual to create a relaxed and intimate atmosphere without feeling rushed. There are plenty of menu options, all very reasonably priced. Most of our group had pasta, but the meat and fish dishes were very tempting! Service was friendly, our food arrived quickly, and everything was great. We will likely be celebrating the July birthdays there... More

Came here because it was highly recommended by our daughter who lives nearby. We got there early for dinner, and it was very quiet (nice change of pace for the Drive!), but we were told it is usually crowded later in the evening and reservations are recommended. We split an order of salmon penne. I love salmon but never thought... More

Family and friend enjoyed the best evening at the most wonderful Italian restaurant in Vancouver BC...Arriva on Commercial Drive. The service was impeccable....the wine selection excellent and very affordable. The food was perfect. Gnocchi with pesto, rigatoni with meat sauce and veal piccata....flawless. Note...pastas and gnocchi are homemade. Our appetizer choices were Caprese with Bufula mozzarella and grilled calamari...I am... More

While in town for a few days on business, our hosts took us to this neighborhood gem near their studio in Vancouver’s Little Italy. (Very little—it appears to be a handful of restaurants and shops spread out over a few blocks). It was perfect, a fantastic meal in a cozy mood-lit little spot, a great way to spend a rainy... More

Found Arriva on the open table app and it was sensational. When we arrived the place was buzzing. Lots of people, but we had reservations and we were seated immediately. Service was warm knowledgeable and friendly .We decided to have the beef Carpaccio - meat very tender, Parmiggiano, oil & lemon. Clean flavors- and a strong cheese here made this... More

Since it was Dine-In week, we thought to try a new restaurant, and it never entered our minds it was a $40/pp 3-course meal, which we would never have chosen. It is not a 5-star rating. The price was not on their special menu nor were we told by the (friendly) staff. The salad was soggy, but the trout and... More

Had a reservation for a family dinner on the Saturday before Christmas and were glad we reserved. A wonderful place with excellent, attentive and pleasant staff. Food was exceptionally good. We were in Italy in October and the meal at the Arriva rivaled those we had there. The frozen lemon stuffed with gelato for dessert should not be missed.

Went to the restaurant without a reservation on a Wednesday evening with my daughter. We were seated immediately and were given a basket of focaccia bread with oil & balsamic for dipping while we looked at the menu. For an appetizer we ordered the fresh mozzarella with tomato and basil. We could smell it as soon as the waiter got... More

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighborhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
