It's hard to find a goood shawarma place in Vancouver. This is our 3rd try, not bad at all. But they don't beat Montréal or Ottawa places!

Perfect snack on the way to a game. I had chicken schwarma which was generous in volume, balanced seasoning and fresh. My son did platter which was similar in ingredients and filled up a hungry 13 year old, which is no small feat. Back in a heartbeat

We stopped here during a short trip to the area. The menu is basic, with shawarma, falafel, and a few other items. My wife and I both had the chicken shawarma wrap, which we both really liked. The chicken was tasty and moist, and not overly oily. Al-Basha itself is a pretty small café, cozy and clean for a fast... More

The wrap was OK but not outstanding, my husband's beef wrap was a bit dry. It suited us because we wanted a quick inexpensive lunch

After a disappointing experience at another Lebanese/Mediterranean at Broadway and Alma, I was reluctant to try this restaurant. But it was a totally different experience. The falafel for the wrap I ordered was freshly cooked, not re-heated in the microwave. Flavorful sauces were generously applied for a very moist and tasty wrap. SO enjoyed the chicken shwarma wrap. Instead of... More

I've only been to this particular location a couple of times, but have been to the one in Kitsilano more than I can remember (especially since it's right next to a bar...). They offer really fantastic, filling middle eastern shawarma at a great price. The people who work there are always really cool and nice, and that counts for quite... More

There are a number of little spots along this stretch of Cornwall, both chains and small independants. I chose Al Basha, and was not sorry that I did. Nothing fancy, but a tasty falafel wrap served quickly and with a smile. Worth a stop for a quick lunch for sure.

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
