We were looking for a simple breakfast place and discovered Cafe Deux Soleils. We enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, great breakfast menu options and wonderful coffee selections. The cashier was okay but the person who brought our food was thoughtful enough to wipe down our table. Cafe Americano was good.

My wife and I had tickets for the Rio Theatre and decided to have dinner here beforehand. We both ordered the burgers at the counter from a very disinterested employee. I ordered the pesto and my partner ordered the quatro. Both were extremely bland and disappointing. The hash browns were burned to a crisp on one side and therefore only... More

The price was decent for the quality. Will definitely come back as what we ordered came out super quick and was extremely delicious & full of flavour!! Note to first time visitors: -go to the front to order -the menu is one large chalkboard that is a little bit hard to read if the line is long -self serve in... More

My siblings and I stopped here for breakfast/lunch, and everyone was pleased with what they ordered. The meateaters didn't even realize it was a vegetarian restaurant at first. There's even an area for kids to play in. It was busy and loud when we went, as it seems very popular, but that didn't take away from the casual atmosphere. I... More

Found this little restaurant for breakfast while shopping on The Drive in Vancouver. It's small and quaint, doesn't have a large menu selection but a nice variety and food was very good. I had French toast with cinnamon and orange zest. My daughter had eggs Benedict. Both plates were very tasty and nicely presented.

Café Du Soleil has been around for a few years, and I have visited it often. It is best for breakfast and if you have kids there is a nice play area for them. Hence, the restaurant is loud and it is busy. The ambiance is definitely unpretentious and thankfully they have remodelled their bathrooms. This is their major weakness... More

The breakfast eggs Benny with hash browns was delicious and a cup of fresh squeezed orange juice was a great add to the meal. A family run business and the tables are cleared and cleaned quickly. The location was nice and breezy from the open doors. It can get quite busy in here depending on the tune of day. There... More

A friend took me here recently, and I was seriously pleasantly surprised. The food was great, and the space was really inviting. It was a rainy day (surprise!), and it was warm and cozy inside. I would return here any time. Our friend earned our undying affection for this find.

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighborhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
