Just take the time to browse through the menu and that will be your first delight. It hints at something new and fresh on the Vancouver scene; known for having the most sushi restaurants per capita. I just made up that fact, but it does seem accurate. Try something new and see if the menu does hold true to its... More

I have been enjoying sushi from this restaurant and their other restaurant on Hornby Street - for a year now. They have such a unique approach to their sushi - as it is healthy and organic is used when they can. Brown rice options, vegetable rolls, etc. The fish is always fresh. Great prices.

Took my mother here who doesn't often eat sushi. We both loved that the rice was brown rice and organic. The rolls and tempura were delicious and we both highly recommend the shiawase for dessert!

Shizen ya specializes in super healthy Japanese fare. This is a bit of hyperbole, since Japanese cuisine tends to be terribly healthy in the first place - but if you want whole grains, clearly marked gluten free options and lots of vegetarian options this is your place. Prices are fairly reasonable - expect to pay about $15-20 per person. Portions... More

So Shizen Ya is one of those restaurants with very "clean" food, great ideas and there is a lot of thought and spirit in the prep. You can just taste the quality, great vibes and creativity in the food. They also cater to vegetarians, vegans and gluten intolerant folks. So, lots of fore thought and awareness. Mind you it is... My girlfriend brought me here just over a year ago as she lives few blocks away and we were both pleased. Came here few weeks ago with similar results. I say similar as we did take out and when I took all the food out realized I paid well over $30 for a small amount of food... I do like... More

So I go to this restaurant at least once a week for take out as it is close to my office and good Japanese. As usual i called today, gave my name and my order (Salmon Tataki salad). As the salmon comes "seared" and i like it done slightly more, i asked for them to cook it a little more.... More

Neighborhood Profile
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
