Our daughter's last night and we wanted something special. We had been here before but the restaurant was congested; so we left. This time we chose the last siting and as we entered the space was clearing and we could enjoy the moment without the clatter and buzz of an over crowded intimate space. The service was impeccably smooth and... More

We had the three course and it was delicious. The service was fantastic. Wine was great. Commercial drive is a weird place to have such great food, but I'll be back for sure.

3 excellent courses for an amazingly reasonable price. The duck Ann the scallop dishes were top notch but the tuna appetizer blew now away. Highly recommend this place!

we went there when it opened and it was great ....the concept didnt changed...you get only 3 appys, 3 mains and 3 desserts to pick from but they are all very good. the scallops and the duck confit on waffles were very nice. the wine selection is to small but the gigondas for 82$ is great.

My wife and I had a fantastic three course meal at a very reasonable price for the quality. I have lived in France a couple times and travel there every few years, few places remind me more of France than Absinthe Bistro. It simply is authentic and excellent.

Booking reservations online is super easy and I love the the great service and attention. The staff is very friendly and the owner Julianna always makes you welcomed. I have been several times with friends and the food is always fantastic. I'll definitely go back again and again. kudos

I have wanted to try Absinthe Bistro for quite awhile but they have an extremely limited menu and we hadn't seen anything that both my husband and I would enjoy. The menu offers 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and 3 desserts so there is not a lot to choose from. It is really a nice bistro with soft music playing in... More

First time coming to this restaurant, I am totally impressed by the service. The lady there made me feel like she was going above and beyond. I tried out the soup, beef carpaccio and the pork. Absolutely delicious. Creme brûlée was one of the best I have ever tried. Would definitely come back!

I've reviewed this restaurant before, but we keep going back because the quality is so good and it is great value. This was our choice for a major wedding anniversary dinner (just the two of us). It's a bit crowded, but the service is great and the food is always excellent. The menu is very small, but changes regularly. For... More

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighborhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
