Located on a great street with lots of bars and restaurants in the Yaletown borough. We tried the Brussels sprouts chips and Kale side dishes, both were fantastic. Brussels sprouts was definitely a generous portion. For entree we ordered the recommended 'Abori Oshi' style sushi...More

The sushi here is amazing. We sat at the sushi bar so we could watch the chefs do their thing. Loved everything. Especially the flame seared dishes. We had one of their warm sakes -- divine.

Staff are friendly, food is amazing, price reflects this. My wife and I couldn't finish our meal, but we made sure to bring home what we didn't eat, instead of leaving it. Know why? Because it was damn good!

It's been a while since I can't say anything wrong about a place. On the contrary that surprises me. The sushi and sashimi of this place is ridiculously good. Sake choice brilliant, even white wine was a good choice. Honestly, quality vs price it is...More

While dining should be about new experiences and the aburi style preparation was that but did not hit the mark with us. That aside the décor, service, attention to preparation and presentation were top shelf. The Kaisen Soba Peperoncino alone made the whole meal worthwhile...More

Minami uses a kind of sushi-preparation technique called Aburi sushi which uses charcoal to flash-sear the sushi and includes a pre-selected sauce - soy sauce and wasabi is not provided. Not my favorite and I felt like it kinda skimps on the amount of fish....More

We sat up at the sushi bar because there were no tables available and got to watch the performance of food preparation which is an art in itself. It is a little pricy but the food and service were exceptional. Well with it.

Depending on what time of year you visit here, I would recommend seeing if you can get a table on the back patio if possible. It's got a quaint & cozy feeling, and they often have the twinkle lights on and blankets out - it's...More

I don't remember seeing one (we visited in January 2016) but there were a few different sections to the restaurant. We were toward the back, close to where the restrooms are and there was no TV in that area. It wouldn't... More

Established as the second location of the Aburi Brand in North America, Minami Restaurant offers a combination of Japanese and West Coast cuisine in a comfortable, rustic atmosphere. Minami presents the Aburi take on red meats and seafood dishes to enjoy with your choice of sake, wine, or specialty cocktail. From intimate gatherings with family and friends to professional corporate events, our welcoming atmosphere with amazing cuisine and impeccable service creates a lasting dining experience.

Aburi Sushi is a corporate symbol of our company, enjoyed by local Vancouverites and international travellers alike. Minami is excited to introduce the innovative concept of Aburi Sushi appetizers. This combination of our shari (sushi rice), cooked using a unique traditional method, and our flame searing technique has turned sushi into a truly exciting culinary experience. At Minami, Aburi sushi is best enjoyed as a zensai (appetizer) course and, paired perfectly alongside your favourite beverage, sets the stage for the rest of your Aburi dining experience.

Our entrée menu places an emphasis on our beef, poultry, and seafood cuisine. Our dedicated team of chefs perfects our entrées not only by focusing on the protein, but also by pairing it with fresh, seasonal vegetables in order to complement the rich flavour of the meat. We insist that a great entrée must be accompanied by an equally great side.

Minami is the sister restaurant of Miku Restaurant.
