cool, very wet and windy and its almost spring! We needed comfort food to drive away Trans-Oceanic jet lag and a tough day. Minami provided comfort, warmth and great food to give us an energy top up with a fantastic melody of tastes and textures.

Minami, much like it's sister restaurant Miku on Vancouver's waterfront, has a delicious menu where nearly every item is worth trying. Delicious and creative rolls, fabulously charred aburi sushi, unique and thoughtful entrees like the pork three ways, everything is plated with great attention to detail. But be prepared for the price tag, rolls at $17 and entrees at $35... More

So I finally made it out to this restaurant, whose sister shop "Miku" I have reading and fantasizing about for the longest time! Sometimes when you wait to do something too long, the results underwhelm you, no matter how good that thing or place may be. My cousin is obsessed with Minami, and had apparently been a couple times a... More

Located on a great street with lots of bars and restaurants in the Yaletown borough. We tried the Brussels sprouts chips and Kale side dishes, both were fantastic. Brussels sprouts was definitely a generous portion. For entree we ordered the recommended 'Abori Oshi' style sushi and were blown away. Have to recommend the Salmon Oshi selection - apparently the signature... More

The sushi here is amazing. We sat at the sushi bar so we could watch the chefs do their thing. Loved everything. Especially the flame seared dishes. We had one of their warm sakes -- divine.

Staff are friendly, food is amazing, price reflects this. My wife and I couldn't finish our meal, but we made sure to bring home what we didn't eat, instead of leaving it. Know why? Because it was damn good!

It's been a while since I can't say anything wrong about a place. On the contrary that surprises me. The sushi and sashimi of this place is ridiculously good. Sake choice brilliant, even white wine was a good choice. Honestly, quality vs price it is really recommended.

While dining should be about new experiences and the aburi style preparation was that but did not hit the mark with us. That aside the décor, service, attention to preparation and presentation were top shelf. The Kaisen Soba Peperoncino alone made the whole meal worthwhile and we know there are likely some other equally spectacular dishes to discover. Of course... More

I've been to Minami many times and the food is always consistently amazing. Everything I've tried is great but I particularly recommend the following: - Aburi sushi - Brussel Sprouts - Sashimi (especially scallop) - Seafood soba They used to serve really delicious gyozas and I hope they bring them back soon. This is go to place to bring any... More

From special occasions to intimate gatherings with family or friends to corporate events, we create a welcoming atmosphere with impeccable service, providing a memorable dining experience.Culinary BrandAppetizer SushiAburi Sushi is a corporate symbol of our company, enjoyed by hundreds of Vancouverites. We are excited to introduce our new Aburi Sushi appetizers, showcasing our unique style of cuisine. The combination of our original shari cooked in our own unique traditional method and flame searing technique has turned sushi into an exciting culinary experience. Enjoy our new innovative Aburi Sushi as the perfect way to start your dining experience alongside your favourite beverage. EntréeOur entrée menu places an emphasis on our beef, poultry, and seafood dishes. Our dedicated chef team prepares our entrees not only focusing on the protein, but also bringing our vegetable side dish to the next level using seasonal ingredient to complement the flavour of the meat. We insist that a great entrée be accompanied by an equally great side. Our chefs focus on flavour and compatibility for your enjoyment. Service Concept: NINGENMILike Miku, our service concept at Minami is “Ningenmi”, “Find joy in yourself by bringing pleasure to guests”This was formed by blending service concepts from two cultures: from Japan, Omotenashi and Wagokoro, (which translates to Japanese Heart), and from North America, one-on-one personal service. Each guest that enters the restaurant is treated as a guest of the entire restaurant; this means, not only will your server look after your experience, but everyone working in that room will contribute to making your dining experience a memorable one. However, while the atmosphere and service at Miku boasts a friendly, bright and lively energy, like that of a busy summer day, guests dining at Minami can expect a more relaxed, warm atmosphere with heartfelt service, like the calm of the beach at sunset.Ningenmi creates an inimitable atmosphere completely unique to Aburi Restaurants. Minami is place where you can enjoy a relaxed evening with our extensive sake selection while being captivated by a delicious meal.

Staying in Yaletown & False Creek North

Neighborhood Profile
Yaletown & False Creek North
Yaletown has risen from the ashes of its rough-and-tumble industrial past into one of Vancouver's new chicest neighbourhoods. The place responsible for originating of the phrase 'skid row' might not call to mind independently-owned boutiques and terraced cafes, but having swallowed the waterfront lines of False Creek North, the resulting amalgamation transformed the area into an elegant, stylish hotspot with a view. Its youthful vibe owes to the many young families and young professionals who live there, bolstering nightlife and restaurant variety along its cobbled streets. It is the flagship neighbourhood for modern revitalization, and the It-Spot for boutique hotels and modish eats.
