The pho quality was up there with any in city I have had though msg content bit high and I was drinking water for hours after. I also had a sub which was totally enjoyable mix of sweet and spicy. much better than subway fare by my reckless palate . Go early as line up starts by 1145.

Don't let the location and small size (the name says it all) put you off - this place is a gem. Once in, and it is no small feat at peak mealtimes, you are kind of jammed in cheek-by-jowl but just pretend you are in Europe and tuck in your elbows and enjoy the treat. The food is without qualification... More

Just hop in for a coffee break. This little cafe impressed us with the very friendly services of the host who, for instance, cared to ask about the quality and sweetness and of the French coffee we ordered. We were, of course, happy with the smooth and tasty coffee. We also ordered beef noodle which was delicious too. Enjoyed our... More

This Vietnamese restaurant is located in East Vancouver at 33rd Avenune and Main Street. We arrived around 11:45 AM and there was a small line up of 6 people outside the door. It took about 10-15 minutes before we were seated. There was no line ups within the hour. This tiny restaurant has about 15 tables seating approximately 30 persons.... More

The chicken curry with a baguette is the thing my dreams are made of. The curry is perfectly flavourful, sweet and creamy. The baguette is always fresh. I tend to splatter myself trying to get meat off the bones. (Somehow I always end up there when I'm wearing white.) Service is mediocre and the space is cramped, but I can... More

We loved the Banh Mis, but the noodle bowls and pho were average. The spicy curry seemed like spaghetti and meat with hot sauce, not so flavorful. Tiny little place with maybe 12 tables, so there was about a 20 minute wait on a Sunday at noon.

Staying in South Main

Neighborhood Profile
South Main
South Main, or SoMa, is a neighbourhood in upswing. Inhabited by young humanitarian professionals in converted lofts and studio apartments, what was once an industrial centre is now a wellspring of vintage and eco fashion shops, contemporary sawdust-floor galleries, craft beer joints, and basement acting studios. All set to an Art Deco background with a strong blue collar sensibility underpinning each new pop-up and foodie trend, SoMa is on the rise.
