We were hungry for tapas and we found the Sardine Can online. Janine was very knowledgeable about the wine selection and we had some absolutely great food. The place is small and informal and we recommend that you give it a go. We had some patron peppers, Catalan flatbread and a gambas dish. All were excellent.

Tiny little gorgeous tapas bar with delicious wine and brilliant food. My favourite was the sizzling garlic prawns. Some of the best I've ever tasted. It's also nice to sit at the bar and watch everything being prepared.

Stopped in for a small bite and a drink and were very impressed with the food offerings. The flavors and quality of the dishes were very good. The location is small and it is obviously a challenge at times trying to get a seat. We appreciated to open kitchen and the cooks seemed very comfortable plying their craft. The server... More

Very casual but delicious tapas. A taste of Spain. One problem: no spanish music, no spanish people...

Ok let's start by saying that I'm a cook and I am from spanish background so yeah I'm pretty knowledgeable about Spanish food. So I decided to give it a try since I was in the neighbourhood, I was skeptical since the moment I walked in, funky smell, sat at the bar and was sticky asked for a garnacha and... More

I had not been to this restaurant since it opened, about 3 years ago, but was in the mood for good tapas. Having eaten tapas and pinxtos in over a dozen cities in Spain but missing them in Vancouver, especially Padron peppers, we thought we'd give this eatery on the periphery of Gastown a try. The place is tiny with... More

We just went there by chance as the other place we wanted to go was full. We were in Spain last summer and wanted to refresh our memories. And it was definitely a good decision. The food was excellent and the staff is very friendly. We have tasted several tapas and all were great. Will definitely be on our favourites... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
