I first tried Fable last year for lunch, and loved the food and experience. I wanted to try it for dinner, because I heard that it was great, too. So during my wife's and my annual Christmas visit to Vancouver this year to visit our daughters, we made sure we booked a dinner there. We were not disappointed, and the... More

We have been going to Fable since not long after it opened, having been fans of Chef Trevor Bird on Top Chef Canada. The food was wonderful, the service great, the room inviting. We always feel like honoured guests there. Our most recent visit was to the annual "orphans Christmas dinner," a magnificent better-than-home-style turkey feast. With a seasonal farm-to-table... We made last minute reservations on a Weds night and good thing we did. This is a very lively busy place. We both had an apply and main course. My husband tried all vegetarian dishes and was very impressed with both. The food is fabulous, farm to table (Fable) and I love that the kitchen is in the front of... More

My son and I had dinner here recently on a Thursday evening. We arrived on time for a 6.30 reservation and were asked if we were ok with being out by 8.30. In the end it was a little tight which took away slightly from the dining experience (and is the only reason I've not rated it excellent!). The dining... More

Hi Margot. Thank you for this wonderful review. I am so sorry to hear that the two hour dine time reflected in your overall experience. Your reservation was made the day before visit and at that time, due to already committed reservations, there was a need to clarify if the two hour time line was sufficient since later tables had... We were a table of six and seated quickly. The brunch menu is simple but covers it all. All meals were huge and well appreciated! This is a very popular spot with locals and you can see why! Service was efficient and friendly. Definitely worth a return visit!

I have a new favourite dish. Try the oatmeal risotto. Num num. Took Ozzy guests and they were suitably impressed. They actually know how to do salmon here, not overdone. Small hiccup, the annoying little fruit flies. I know they are hard to get rid of but please try.

The brunch menu is great and I recommend getting one of their specials for that day. Get there few min before they open (1030am) to make sure you have a table ready and fresh coffee. Very friendly staff and can't go wrong with food choices. Healthy portions and reasonable prices in a nice setting.

I found Fable on Tripadvisor. The reviews looked good and the menu was reasonable. We were very happy with our dinner - some highlights were the specials - steak was excellent. The appetizer pasta was memorable. I would go back to have it again. Instead of beer I had a cider - it was great. All 4 of us enjoyed... More

Most of the food was great! I had the mushroom and zucchini spirals which was fantastic. Also the salmon lettuce wraps were really good! My husband's short ribs though had a lot of fat, some of the pieces of meat were completely all fat. Although the food was great, the bill was really high ($270 for 4 people). The service... More

Thank you for your visit and great complements. We haven't serve short ribs, so thinking this must refer to the 48 hour sous vide chuck that has lately been a butcher's cut. It does have a higher fat content which contributes to the richness of flavor. We trim it and don't allow an incorrectly trimmed pieces to go out, but... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
