Visited this restaurant twice during our trip to British Columbia. They say you should never go back and this time it proved correct. The first time we had an attentive waiter and ate the most wonderful oysters. Truly the best we had ever had. The waiter had suggested we try a selection and they were all wonderful. The owner of... There aren't many places like Chewies. The food is very tasty and they serve unique dishes like Jambalaya and Fried Chicken, things you won't find everywhere. The servers are very casual and fun, don't expect a fine dining experience. It's casual good times with delicious food. The patio is a good place to be on a nice day.

Like most places in Vancouver, the patios fill up fast and stay filled. They become Vancouver's version of Beer Gardens. Moreover, the place is a grazing field for the young. Sitting inside, you are within eye view of the open kitchen and within earshot of blaring loudspeakers. The old do not have enough endurance to shout through conversations and the... More

This was our favourite happy hour spot on a sunny day. Can't beat sitting in the sun with $5-$6 (good) beer and wine and buck-a-shuck oysters. It's also awesome that they do happy hour on the weekends since you can't always get there in time after work Mon-Fri. They have all the fixings - house-made sauces, fresh horseradish, etc. The... The fried chicken is excellent! The pork bell appetizer is even better if that is possible. The downside to this place is the price they charge for oysters. At $3.75 each for beach oysters we found that too hard to swallow and passed on that option. The other oysters they had (?Eastern?) were in the $5 range which is even... More

Awesome oyster happy hour (called low-tide special). Oysters were fresh, priced right, and the beer is cold.

As we are visitors to Vancouver, this place was recommended to us by our host. It sure is a gem! Not many places like this! Great atmosphere, amazing service, unique Menu selections, ...just wonderful! It's not overly expensive, but not cheap either. We will be back!

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
