I try and hit up Chewies every time I'm in the city. Always such a great vibe, awesome cocktails and top notch food. Oh yah, and they believe in wine cups never going empty - so that's awesome. This trip I changed it up from the usual wine and oysters and tried out their crab cakes and a side of... More

My brother and I dined at Chewie's Coal Harbour on Friday night. I have never dined at this restaurant as I am from out of town. It was busy due to Dine Out and Happy Hour. Everything we had was amazing. The happy hour items were all a decent size - not sure if it's their "regular" portions being discounted.... More

Chewies is an oyster bar located in one of the most beautiful downtown areas in North America in the city of Vancouver. I was a guest at the place as part of social gathering with colleagues after work while visiting the city. I had a lovely experience but I think they need to step up some parts of their service.... First thing to say is that the staff has a real great attitude in an genuine way. The place itself is nice - a great ambience. I only had couple of beers and the calamari starter, which really good. Not usual rings, but real BC calamari slices with garlic aioli. It was perfect! The only negative I have is that... More

Well, I have just returned from my fourth and last visit to Chewies on 1st. No more. Quite a few folk I know frequent this place and so I have tried, well, four times to see why. I haven't been able. The menu here suggests a New Orleans connection, but the dishes I have tried that quote this connection such... More

I have mixed feelings about this place. The atmosphere was publike and comfy except the music was horribly loud. I had the premium oysters, which were delicious, but really, really, really small. My boyfriend had the Jambolya which he liked but was a really small serving for $22.00. I had the appetizer scallops with bacon, which, again, were delicious, but... More

What a great spot for buck a shuck oysters! Chewies offers a local $1 beach oyster and a $2 premium oyster - freshly grated horseradish was a nice bonus! Served with a tray of four different house-made sauces if you like that little extra flavour on top of your glorious one-slurp bite, I ended up with a squeeze of lemon,... More

We were here last year for happy hour and it was so delish. Fresh and excellent service. We returned this year and we're not disappointed

We decided to try chewies for the third time in hopes that possibly the menu had changed for the better, only to finally say we will never be back! The service was horrible, the once very friendly servers were looking bored with no smiles and a different server everytime they came to the table! Our food was as horrible as... More

Chewie's is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. Service is always spot on, servers are fun and friendly and always make you feel at home. Food is always great. Best of all, their happy hour is bang for the buck. 2 for 1 for bottles of wine, buck-a-shuck oysters.

Thank gggds

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
