I had friends from out of town and after a disappointing experience elsewhere we came dripping wet into The Dirty Apron looking for lunch. The food was delicious. My friend ordered the fig and proscuitto sandwich and said it was 'Heaven'. I have a sulphite allergy and the chef was AMAZING in helping me figure out what I could eat.... More

Really enjoyed the evening at "Friday Night Bites" cooking school/dinner at the Dirty Apron. The "other side" of this store/deli/cooking school offers the option where you watch a demo by a chef, then each cook yourself at a Wolf range before eating together; however, the "Friday Night Bites" option allows you to be part of a group of 18 who... A friend and I went to the Dirty Apron for a Thai cooking class last week and had an amazing experience learning all about the food prep and then the delicious tasting after each and every experiment, served with a glass of wine and a beautifully prepared table. The chef was excellent and explained everything in laymans terms and the... More

This cute little cafe is a great downtown lunch stop. Their ingredients are fresh and price is decent in comparison to the amount of food you get. I recommend checking out their daily features as they often have tasty gems such as homemade lasagna and kimchi+deepfried chicken baguette to name a few. The line moves fast so definitely doable to... More

This is a unique cooking class set up. Fabulously well equipped teaching facility with Wolf ovens and grills and very well organized cooking class. This particular night was a grilling class. So we did Steak Sliders, Flatbread Lobster tails, and grilled pineapple.

My husband and I took the Seafood cooking class and absolutely loved it, My husband doesn't really cook and he really enjoyed our class and the chef instructor. Everything was well organized and easy to understand. The chef was very knowledgeable and share cooking tips and techniques with us. So we actually learned some new things. This was a hands... More

I bought a cooking class gift certificate for my sister's birthday, $158 for the class, meal and wine, so it was just over $300 for the two of us, but we loved it and would definitely go again! They offer several different classes such as Italian, seafood, pizzas, Thai and more. We chose the seafood class. A full list of... More

The dirty apron is a fantastic find. Hands down the best Lamb sandwich I have had in Vancouver. The deserts are also amazing, especially the triple chocolate chip cookie. The deli also features some amazing products from other local vendors and offers cooking classes that are extremely popular.

Went early (11:30) before the lunch time crowd arrived. Nice selection of grilled and baguette sandwiches made fresh. Tried the roasted beef grilled with horseradish (mild) and the roast chicken (with anchovy which I asked to have omitted but it came anyway). Both were good size and flavourful. Take out is busy but there is ample seating to eat in.... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
