It is a good place for dating, friends and family gatherings. Big enough to easily find a table without reservation. Service is not bad.

A sunny Saturday afternoon. Roof terrace. Efficient but hurried wait staff - seemed eager to turn table over, no dessert offered just 'shall I bring the check now'. Tables a bit too close together. Two appies and four mains with cocktails but no wine came to $177.30 before tip. Food was just 'O.K.' Jerk salad constituted half a lettuce and... More

We were there around 4:30 pm for the happy hour deals on drinks and snacks - the patio is packed with people we're just fortunate that they have a table we can use for an hour and half. With the sun full blast - this patio is one of the best spots to hangout in downtown Vancouver. The service is... More

I love visiting Black and Blue when I am in town. I am from Texas and they know how to cook a lovely steak! The sides are also very generous and appetizing. On this particular visit, Jeffrey helped us pick just the right sides and was very helpful in choosing desserts. We left stuffed and even had some desserts left... More

The restaurant was very quiet (we booked for 7:45pm) and so lacking in atmosphere. The food was very good and it was a nice touch to make the ceasar salad at your table. Other restaurants on the street were very busy so we can only assume the price of this place was what put people off.

We were researching restaurant spots in Vancouver and this came up over and over. We were NOT disappointed. We went for lunch two days. The rooftop was fantastic and the food was always delicious. If we're ever in Vancouver again we'll definitely eat here.

I have been to this restaurant many times over the last 2 years...Franck, Michael, Jamie, Chrystal and Josh made another night memorable. I walk in and everyone remembers me...calls me by name and treats us like we are honored guests. The food is amazing and if you ask the chef to prepare his choices for you he is happy to... More

Every city has a few restaurants that represent a location well. They became an iconic destination either through the type of food they serve that are indigenous, high quality and delicious, or from the people whom you interacted and encountered there. A large proportion of restaurants usually does one thing really well. Seldom that you experienced a place that does... More

We went back a second night because it was so good. We sat up on the rooftop. Unfortunately they had to have it covered the first night but the second night it was open to the sky and gorgeous. They have big fireplaces which make it very inviting. Everything we had was great but the ribeye over warm potato salad... More

If you want to compete as a steak house in Vancouver you better have your game in order, and black and blue certainly does not. In all honesty you would be better served to visit BP and have a steak burger. The wait staff is completely inattentive, and the food at our table of six ranged from mediocre to not... More

Description
The magic of a classic steakhouse, but with a decidedly contemporary twist. In-house aged rare cuts of beef, tableside Caesar salads, flambes, flaming coffees, and more. While he may find it familiar, it's definitely not your Daddy's steak house!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
