This antique looking tea house and Cafe always has a lunch time lineup because the place is only open till 5 pm. The owners don't believe in working longer than a regular workday :). Their sandwiches are truly artisan as it starts with their own home made baguettes in their Strathcona location which serves the same food but also sells... More

This is such a cute and quaint little place to meet for lunch or pick up an order to go. The food choices are excellent and the visual presentation of the sandwiches is exceptional. The sandwich ingredients are fantastic and very unique. I would recommend this place to all. It is affordable, friendly staff, good location and a must try... More

Finch's is actually more focused on coffee than on tea. More than anything, though, the sandwiches and salads are fantastic. The ingredients are really varied and fresh and there are tons of choices for people who don't want meat. Staff is really friendly and the restaurant itself is really cozy. Strongly recommend.

Been here several times during our Vancouver trips and it never disappoints! Fun, quirky ambiance (vintage, 60's decor). Large sandwiches creatively put together on baguettes. Very generous with avocados & brie; our favorite is Pear, blue brie, prosciutto & roasted walnut sandwich (no one makes this in Hawaii). Stylish sandwiches indeed.

We saw the write up for Finch's on TripAdvisor and wanted to try. This lunch place did not disappoint. It has a great atmosphere and a unique menu. We had a blue brie, pear, prosciutto and walnut baguette and a cheese plate. The cheese plate came with baked brie, baguette, pear and grapes. Both meals were absolutely delicious. The bread... I came here twice in the last two weeks I loved it so much! I love french bread (baguettes) and I lovee brie. The first time I came I was with a few coworkers and we came at 12pm on a Friday, and just beat the line up and got a table. You go up and order and pay at... More

Pear, brie and prosciutto is delicious! Fantastic. Very cute location even though we took our meal to go. Haven't tried anything else though.

We tried their Brie and Pear sandwich and it was really great. It was prepared perfectly and was a great combo of sweet, savory and sour (with the Balsamic). The service was pretty quick and the atmosphere was lovely. Not sure if I will be going again, considering their food is quite pricey for being relatively simple.

Finch's Teahouse offers exceptional quality coffee and tea. Their baguette sandwiches are to die for. The atmosphere is very quaint with a lot of character. If I could describe the shop in one word it would be "authentic". They also offer a compost bin for whatever is able to be composted, which I found to be a very progressive and... More

Helpful staff, great coffee, fantastic sandwiches. I will definitely be back. Actually, I went there twice this trip to Van and will go back on my next trip.

Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
