Bella Gelateria is to ice cream what Nicli Antica Pizzeria is to pizza, ie, it’s a world beating Italian product available almost 10,000 km from Rome! Owner James Coleridge brought his pecan and maple syrup ice cream to the Florence Gelato Festival in 2012 and stole the show, taking first prize. This dense and silky ice cream draws a permanent... Ignore the long lines...This gelato is really good!! Once we tried it for the first time, we were hooked and went back every evening we were in Vancouver. I especially like the salted chocolate...My wife went for the pecan or the salted caramel. The folks behind the counter were always friendly and seemed to enjoy swirling the piles of gelato... More

While on our tour with Jane, of the Tour Guys, she suggested we stop at Bella Gelateria. We are glad we did. It was delicious!! Having tasted gelato in Florence, I can see why they won. It was a taste of Italy.

There are not too many flavours to choose from, but easily enough. Although many follow the trendy "salted" flavours, there are quite a few that don't - thank goodness. It is a good place to stop into when cycling around Stanley Park. I had the coffee and chocolate. It was creamy but still a little watery, with no hint of... More

The best gelato I've had outside of Italy! The line was long, but it was worth the wait. I enjoyed the lavender and the salted caramel-delicioso! Counter staff was very nice, too.

Basically, we wanted to eat ice cream. This place was the busiest. We had to wait for 20 minutes. Staff were nice. Choices were good. I recommend adding a sugar free flavor. In general it was worth the wait. Recommended if you are a fine gelato seeker and have the patience to wait for one. (August 19, 2016).

To be honest I couldn't imagine that the ice cream could taste that much better than your usual ones, but I was wrong. You can really taste the difference. Firstly, these gelato are made from milk, not cream. Some even use buffalo milk. The flavours come from fresh, in season, fruits. These were the smoothest and tastiest not-ice-creams that I... More

The gelato is very good but not out of this world (can't compare to my favorite gelato place, "Frost" in Gilbert, Arizona). Frost has very long lines but they move at the lightening speed. Bella is a very different place. Once you get to the register you have to know what you want and pay for your gelato first. So,... More

This was some of the better Gelato I've had in N. America. This place always had a long line with only one cashier and one server I can see why. But maybe that is their plan. The gelato was very flavorful and had a good texture. I'd go back only when the lines are shorter. It's good but why wait... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
