We stopped in for lunch and were really impressed with the food and overall atmosphere. We had the Porchetta and the Roast Beef daily special with a bowl of cold soup. Everything was delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would go back any day. Sandwiches cost $9-10 and are worth every penny. The bread and toppings are perfectly... More

This little gem was very close to our hotel, which made it an easy choice for lunch. We enjoyed their local sodas, much to the kids' delight. All of us heartily enjoyed our sandwiches on fresh bread. My wife and I also split the lentil salad, which was also uniquely good and a welcomed departure from just chips with the... More

This is the place for a good sandwich loaded with your choice of daily meat specials custom made to your specifications. Always really amazing but my fave is their soups. With their sandwich I'm in gastronomic heaven.

Of course had the porchetta , my wife had the meatball. Both delicious and not too big, perfect sized sandwich in my opinion. Very good bread and verde sauce was awesome! Salads were fresh & tasty too. Also had a really good local root beer ! Cant really go wrong with this place. We went early about 11AM , no... More

I spent over a week in Vancouver and went to a Meat and Bread every other day. I visited two locations in Vancouver and the Victoria location (opened on Saturday). I was never disappointed with the porchetta (may be better than NYC!), the staff or the locations. Crispy, hot, well-seasoned on fresh bread. Don't over look the sides - the... More

Came across this place by accident and very glad we did. The Reuben sandwich was so good we went back another day and tried another variation. Quick and efficient service, great tasty food, good value for money..... what more do you want?!!!

Loved Meat & Bread. Porchetta sandwich was simply divine. Top quality ingredients, preparations, and efficient handling of the lunch time mob scene. Experts at the craft of sandwiches! Meatball was also the bomb. If you're in Vancouver, this is the ultimate reasonably priced joint to grab a mid day bite.

Meat and Bread is by far the best lunch place I've visited in Vancouver. Even writing the review and thinking about the sandwiches makes me hungry.. Please come to Europe! :)

Its great to be able to just buy a sandwich and not lots of other stuff - Meat and Bread offer that and do it very well. Its a small choice with a special each day, we ate in both the Vancouver locations eating the Porchetta sandwich both times - very good! There is a line out the door but... More

This is a great lunch spot! Everything is fresh and delicious. Comfy room for family style dining. Line moves fast. I love watching them carve.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
