I've dined here several times and it's always been a wonderful experience. Many Malaysian - Indonesian dishes from which to chose. It's Singapore or KL in Vancouver.

I went to Banana Leaf for the 2nd time last night. We were 11 people and our waitress was terrific (friendly, patient, helpful, efficient). The portions were big and price is reasonable, so there is good value for the meals. Most of what I tasted was good (but I was disappointed with the Gado-Gado, which was watery; also, my husband's... I can't compare to other Malaysian restaurants, as this was my first experience. Based on this visit, it won't be the last. Our food was very good as was the service. We ordered 3 dishes and shared: the Nasi Goreng Deluxe, Steamed Mussels (in a coconut broth), and the Caramelized Ginger Fish. All were satisfying, and the mussels came with... More

If in Vancouver we make Banana leaf a must dine. If you like seafood with a little attitude this is still the place. They also have beef and other dishes. A nice setting with friendly rapid service.. A very capable bar makes excellent compliments to the meal. One of our favorites anywhere! Understand Malaysian food is spicy before you go!

I ate at Banana Leaf Kitsilano on July 21 for dinner. Every time I visit Vancouver I make sure I have dinner at a Banana Leaf. The food is so delicious. The service is impeccable. I always have a great experience there. The restaurant in Kitsilano is probably my favourite. I can recommend certain dishes but all items on the... More

We stopped by the Banana Leaf Kitsilano Saturday night for a light dinner. The weather was Vancouver gorgeous, so the restaurant was busy both inside and out. We started off with beer on tap from a menu with quite a few choices - the brown ales are always our favourites and priced very reasonably. Next we had the appetizer platter... More

Everything we ordered was delicious. We had the nasi goreng (yum) lunch special with eggplant (yum) and satay (yum), the rendang beef (yum) with roti (yum), and mee goreng (yum). The service was good, the ambiance was nice, and I even had a great beer (Stanley Park). Lunch for 3 with drinks under $60. There was plenty of food but... More

The first time we visited this place a number of years ago we were delighted with the food. We decided to try it again as we were in the area. From the lunch menu we chose the beef rendang with roti canai, this came with rice and a small Asian salad with pineapple($12). The rendang was 5 pieces of meat... More

There are several Banana Leaf restaurants in Vancouver, but this one is easily the best--capable service, and recently a sharp improvement in the quality of the kitchen. Restaurants go through good and bad times: this is a good time for the Kitsilano Banana Leaf.

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
