We came as a group of 6 with 2 kids as we were looking for a sushi place nearish to Canada Place (but not overly expensive as many of the places near to Canada Place are). Service was a bit mixed, but sushi was very good and not too badly priced. It's on a pretty grim very commercial street -... More

Coming from the East coast, we had high expectations for Sushi in Vancouver. We have our usually spot in Moncton (still #1 to us) but we were always told that sushi out West was like having Sushi in Japan. We had a delicious meal at Shukaru and the staff were extremely courteous and helpful! The rice wasn't over cooked or... More

Great dinner. We made a quick OpenTable reservation for a late dinner, and were warmly welcomed into this great restaurant! If you like traditional sushi, or fusion-style dishes, Shuraku has something for everyone. I really enjoyed the hot sake flight, and my husband had the cold sake flight, and their sake selection was amazing. Service was fast despite being busy,... More

Sushis is an obsession but Shuraku manage to give us an experience beyond the usual sushi place with more traditional mains and some innovations. Particularly loved the sweet chili California roll and sweet plum wine. Cherry on top, the service was impeccable.

We visited the restaurant with our two kids (7 and 9) and had a fantastic time. Fantastic food. Whatever we tried was tasting awesome. Sushi, Sashimi were perfectly fresh. The porc belly tacos were melting on the tongue. Fried noodles with chicken were delicious. And the welcome/farewell salutes of the staff were greatly entertaining for the kids ;-)

We have patronized Shuraku at least six times over the past year and on each visit there has been reliable, friendly service and good food. Their rolls and sashimi have always been fresh with sturdy basics in their donburi and ramen. In fact, the fatty pork ramen is one of our favourite dishes. The chef's fresh sheet can sometimes be... Me and my and my wife ordered a few things to share: seafood yakisoba, dynamic roll, california roll & agedashi tofu. The yakisoba was nicely prepared: perfectly seasoned, not too sweet not too salty, good portion and served slightly crisp on a hot plate. Both dynamic and california rolls were good also, sushi rice made perfectly, only complain is the... More

The place was quite busy when we got there, but we were seated quickly and the servers were very willing to answer any questions we had about the menu. I had the Enchanted Forest roll and it was so good! The flavours were great and it filled me right up. There's definitely something for everyone on the menu and the... More

Food tastes ok, and the price points were good. Service was slow. Took about 10 minutes for a server to even acknowledge that we were there, and it wasn't even busy. The BBQ back ribs were the best thing we ate there. The maki were just ok. Not very inspired or out of the ordinary, and something was definitely off,... More

We came to this place on recommendation from concierge at our hotel. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. We ordered the hamachi kama, lots of nigiri sushi, chicken ramen, chicken teriyaki for the kids, grilled squid and a few rolls. The sushi was not as fresh as I expected. The hamachi kama was oversmoked. The best thing we had were the chicken... More

Staying in Granville Street

Neighborhood Profile
Granville Street
Granville Street spans many, multiple city blocks and has become so fastidiously known for its nightclubs and watering holes that it's fondly nicknamed the city's 'Entertainment District.' Friday and Saturday nights are the most popular and lively, with young revelers taking to the streets in droves and keeping the party going until late. Granville Street, being mostly open to pedestrian-only traffic, has a healthy social life along its main thoroughfares, even outside of its cafes and pubs, spilling onto the sidewalks. The locals are chatty, the shops at its expansive Pacific Centre Mall are trendy, and the whole area seems to be on a sugar rush: in a good way. Exuberance and camaraderie classify this neighbourhood.
