The place was nice but the food tasted average with small portion per order. They can definitely do better.

We rarely eat Indian so enjoyed trying a few new dishes. Our waiter suggested an app whose name I don't recall, but it was tiny morsels of well seasoned, crispy chicken with a few garnishes. Paired well with local Granville Island pale ale. I tried butter chicken in a rich tomato sauce, quite tasty and not overly spicy. My husband... More

After a week of ribs, burgers and steak, we wanted a good old curry - the meal we had was way more than a standard curry - it was beautifully flavoured, subtle yet spicy - all in all, a superb meal.

Vancouver is blessed with many fine restaurants but there does surprisingly appear to be a dearth of fine Indian restaurants around. I have been to this restaurant before and whilst it seems to be mainly very well regarded by many of the reviewers on this site I have to say that if it was in London it wouldn't stay open... More

We got and shared a variety of foods and all were excellent. This restaurant is on the second floor of a building on Barrard downtown. Nice dining room and excellent service as well. Many types of Naan on the menu--including stuffed with meat or chicken. We don't have good Indian food at home, so we sought out Indian food for... More

Recommended by the Concierge at our hotel, Salam Bombay offers very good Indian food with all the common dishes and some that are not so common. Friendly, helpful service. Nice dining room on second floor. Ask for a table by the windows and watch the hustle and bustle of Vancouver below. Only complaint is the dish requested "spicy": was not.

Arrived back in Vancouver and wanted a curry - checked out Tripadvisor and took the recommendations for Salam Bombay, which was a walkable distance form our apartment. The staff were very courteous and attentive, the drinks arrived promptly, and the meal surprisingly quickly. The portions were generous and the food tasted excellent - and all for a very good price.... More

After I'd moved to Vancouver, I needed a curry for my soul and to recover from my 13h flight. After a quick search on Tripadvisor, I've decided to go to the Salam Bombay. I took a friend with me and we had an amazing lunch. I was stuffed for the rest of the day, because of the large portions. Oh... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
