Four of us had dinner. We all ordered the starter Quinoa Kale salad which was bitter and small. Guacamole dip was good but not enough for all the chips by a long shot. The cheese fondue was tasteless......needs flavour. One of the dishes as an entree was the jumbolaya which my friend couldn't eat. It had a weird earthy taste... More

We went to Burgoo for an early dinner on Saturday and were not disappointed. I had crab bisque and grilled cheese sandwich with their daily special drink, a snake bite. The soup was hot and tasty and the sandwich was loaded with 3 or 4 types of cheese and grilled to perfection. (Still thinking about that sandwich!) The drink was... More

I love Burgoo and have been many times (to this location as well as others around town). I almost always get the grilled cheese sandwich (4 cheeses!) with salad but today I splashed out and got the shepherd's pie. Deelish. Instead of an all ground meat thing that you usually get in other places there were actual chunks of lamb... More

To me this place is a classic example of everything could all come together to work wonderfully but just slightly missed the mark. I stopped in because I was hungry after vintage shopping on Main st and it looked so cozy. There was a sign outside about chicken pot pie and that lured me in. The staff were so friendly... More

Came here for Dinner with my better half and my daughter. We got here at 6pm on a Saturday night. We managed to get a table without a wait, but the place was packed. By the time we left, there were about 14 people waiting inside and outside for tables. My wife and I had the Borscht soup, which was... More

Excellent food! We always come here for comfort food (delicious, cheesy, meaty goodness.) Food is reasonably priced and drinks are priced on par for Vancouver restaurants. Excellent service standards but it is a little tough to get a table. [One would argue that's a good thing.]

I was so pleasantly surprised after a trip to Burgoo. Everything was perfect. The chicken vegetable soup had great flavour and the grilled cheese is to die for. I wanted to try everything on the menu. I can't wait to go back!

It was a nice lunch. This was my first burgoo, and satisfy. Restaurant is small, but people were too many there.

I had a wonderful French onion soup and spinach salad at Burgoo, perfect for this rainy Vancouver day! My boyfriend had the chicken pot pie and it was delicious. The only issue was getting in the restaurant. We tried to get into Burgoo 2 other times prior to that and the wait times were crazy. But the food was delicious... More

Hard to choose one meal from the menu, everything is worth trying. I had split pea soup; a hearty portion, and perfect on a snowy December Sunday.

Staying in South Main

Neighborhood Profile
South Main
South Main, or SoMa, is a neighbourhood in upswing. Inhabited by young humanitarian professionals in converted lofts and studio apartments, what was once an industrial centre is now a wellspring of vintage and eco fashion shops, contemporary sawdust-floor galleries, craft beer joints, and basement acting studios. All set to an Art Deco background with a strong blue collar sensibility underpinning each new pop-up and foodie trend, SoMa is on the rise.
