I was so pleasantly surprised after a trip to Burgoo. Everything was perfect. The chicken vegetable soup had great flavour and the grilled cheese is to die for. I wanted to try everything on the menu. I can't wait to go back!

I had a wonderful French onion soup and spinach salad at Burgoo, perfect for this rainy Vancouver day! My boyfriend had the chicken pot pie and it was delicious. The only issue was getting in the restaurant. We tried to get into Burgoo 2 other times prior to that and the wait times were crazy. But the food was delicious... More

Hard to choose one meal from the menu, everything is worth trying. I had split pea soup; a hearty portion, and perfect on a snowy December Sunday.

It was a damp, cold and snowy afternoon when one of my group said we should eat something warm and and satisfying when my daughter and a friend chimed out together "Burgoo!"

We went with a group of 5 of us. for comfort food - the portions were small and averaging $17 a plate (bowl). Came away still feeling hungry.

This is a great place to eat... but you might have to wait to get in. --- thee is another coffee shop next door if you need to and it's also OK. But I try to go to Burgoo for Brunch or Lunch as often as it is possible. Food is wonderful and feels like it was cooked just for... More

We went on a rainy public holiday for lunch. There was a line up and I was told that the wait was 30 - 45 min. We walked around main st and were seated at the bar within 45 min. The chairs were really comfortable. The menu has wonderful comfort items, soups, sandwiches, salads and casseroles. There was a brunch... More

We went in for something light so I ordered the Bistro Salad with mixed greens, tomato, cucumber and their house vinaigrette. It was a perfect size and tasted unbelievable. Some friends had the kale and quinoa salad and raved about that as well. The service was awesome as well. I would highly recommend it.

If the other four are as good as the Main Street location, you'll be well satisfied with any of them. There were three of us, and we ordered a veggie sandwich with salad, Eggs Ratatouille, and a Shepherd's Pie. All were excellent, served by a friendly and efficient server, and in a unique surrounding that looked like it might have... More

Staying in South Main

Neighborhood Profile
South Main
South Main, or SoMa, is a neighbourhood in upswing. Inhabited by young humanitarian professionals in converted lofts and studio apartments, what was once an industrial centre is now a wellspring of vintage and eco fashion shops, contemporary sawdust-floor galleries, craft beer joints, and basement acting studios. All set to an Art Deco background with a strong blue collar sensibility underpinning each new pop-up and foodie trend, SoMa is on the rise.
