Had the opportunity on a Thursday evening to join a friend for dinner, drinks and some great piano playing this evening at the Revel Room. My wife and teenage boys were in Vangroovy a week ago and recommended this location for dinner for the business trip I'm on. I had the gumbo for dinner. It was very tasty, though I... More

We went to Gastown about 9pm hoping to find a good pub for New Years evening and we found it. We stumbled on the Revel Room, they kept us outside waiting for a table to clear but we expected that at New Year. We just had drinks, no food, and there was the usual fizzy lager but a couple of... More

We have visited this spot quite a few times. The first time was by accident but each visit since was intentional. Thursday nights present the "Duelling pianos" and they are high energy, crowd run fabulous musicians. Small but cozy. The upstairs could use a facelift. The food is so so but the location and hands on ownership with Ginny? proves... More

Such a great night at the Revel Room, we came across this place by accident, just walking along. Jimmy Roy was outside and asked us over, the place looked good so we went in for a drink, quite a few hours later we were still they having one hell of a night. Music was outstanding, we was there on the... More

Really cool place. Great refreshing cocktails... nice live music most nights and delicious Cajun inspired menu. I'll be back. Trifecta! I had the Cucumber Swizzle!

The Revel Room is just around the corner from our friends' apartment and they said it's one of their favorite places in/near the Gastown district. It's easy to see why. The dinner options include some cajun options (try the jambalaya, it was delicious!) along with typical cuisine (the ribs were great, too!). Several good options for local craft beers were... More

After dinner, this bar is a great destination to listen to live music and kick back with drinks in hand. The owner is on the stage singing and greating guests! Very fun place!

Wow!! This wee gem of a place was discovered when my wife & I were returning to our hotel after spending some time in Gastown. We came upon it quite by chance but we were so impressed with not only the warm hospitality of the owner/staff, the excellent choice of food & drinks but above all the quality of the live... Not many places like this to be found - warm, wonderful atmosphere, old style hospitality and a band that absolutely rocks! Discovered this place in March when I last visited Vancouver when it managed to brighten the darkest and rainiest day imaginable. Back again especially for Wednesday Revelry with the best rockabilly / Texas swing going. This evening brought my... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
