Came in to check out this fairly new coffee shop on Fraser Street the other day. Coffee was pretty good and the veg sandwich was terrific. Fraser seems to be in the midst of an evolution and all for the better. Prado is a great addition to the neighbourhood.

Right in the heart of the Commercial Drive strip. Delicious mocha coffee, muffins and fiendly staff. What I like the most about this place is that it's a local business owned by Italian brothers! They have free WIFI so it's a great place to hang out with your laptop on a rainy Vancouver day. I'm still waiting for summer to... More

A great place to eat an excellent cookie (my favourite is the Cookie With No Name) and enjoy an americano before launching into your work day or adventure in Gastown.

If you are looking for coffee with beautiful latte art then you will be pleased. But what will make you overjoyed is adding a Cookie With No Name to your order! I'm addicted. Completely addicted.

Busy place with lot of youngsters frozen on their computer screens (alas!) Good cappuccino with a standard double shot which makes it taste of coffee rather than milk (the way it should be!). The arugula, egg, sun dried tomato pesto on an English muffin was mediocre and rather tasteless. My fault forgetting I should never get a panino/sandwich with arugula... More

For an odd set of reasons, we found ourselves on Fraser St with time to spare in the morning and decided to try out this small, hip looking coffee place. Great decision. They served an outstanding café latte and our breakfast sandwiches were top quality. Nice feel to the place that is hard to put down in words.

Prado Cafe was recommended to me by someone who lives just a few blocks off Commercial, so I had some time and stopped by. It is in an older red brick building, and they have contrasted that with a very clean, open, modern-feel cafe. There are large windows along the front and one side, and although some of the tables... Prado Cafe is a fantastic cafe here in Vancouver. I love their lattes, particularly their chai latte (comes unsweetened, by the way). It tastes richer than many other lattes at other cafes. The atmosphere is really relaxed and minimalistic. It does get quite busy, so you're never guaranteed a seat.

Good place for a pit stop, coffee and magic cake really hit the spot. There's much more to choose of course, a specials board, teas, and more cake.

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighborhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
