Yoshi Japanese Restaurant owned and run by a couple is newly take over restaurant in Fort McMurray. It is a nice and friendly family run eatery and the Japanese food served are good and of good value.

The restaurant is in a strip mall, and while sometimes these little hole in the wall restaurants are remarkable, this one is not. The interior is uninspiring with little Japanese atmosphere. The waitress was very friendly and almost too attentive. I was able to order...quickly and my food was delivered quickly. I had one of only three available Bento boxes with AAA Steak & Teriyaki Chicken, mixed Tempura, 2 pieces Cali Roll, 1 Salmon and 1 Tuna nigiri. The Steak was tiny - maybe 2" around and 1/2" thick, but cooked well. Everything was smothered in teriyaki sauce, which is never a good sign. The Chicken was breaded so probably not made fresh. All I could really taste was the teriyaki sauce. There was a healthy serving of Tempura with a few surprise vegetables thrown in which was very crispy and tasty. The cali roll was very creamy and flavourful and the nigiri was fresh and delicious. If you're looking for a place to have Sushi, this place would be a great choice. I'm not from Fort McMurray, but if I was, it's likely I would never return to this restaurant.More

My favorite Japanese restaurant in Ft Mac. Great combination of food selection and portion size for the price.

I come to Fort McMurray every February and each year I look forward to a feast at Yoshi. Very kind staff, clean restaurant, nice feel inside. The food is gorgeous, the selection is challenging (there's so much to choose from). I find it to be...a bit of a premium cost but compared to "fast food sushi" it's worth every extra penny and more. AND they have Gomae on the menu. I find that somewhat rare to find at times.More

I used to love Yoshi's but in the past two years staff have changed and food went from good to very poor. I hazard a guess that Safeway has salmon fresher and more tender than the sashimi here. And I would never eat raw salmon...from Safeway. Even the cooked food is pretty dreadful. The last few times I threw 90% of what I bought away. I am also asked constantly under pressure why I no longer eat there by the staff. Unpleasant. Avoid.More

i am not impressed with most restaurants I have tried in Ft. McMurray. the overcharging in general is horrible. This place is a refreshing change. Good food, reasonable prices (at lunch, anyway), and friendly staff. I make sure I go everytime I'm in Ft. McMurray.

As good as ever. Yoshi is open again after the fire. Chicken karaage is still the best deep fried chicken in town.

decent sushi choice; has real Asian feel inside and selections are limited to real sushi lovers; sashimi was super tasty and fresh

Eventhough the curb appeal and venue are tired and dated, possibly not appear too clean, the menu and food quality are superb. The staff and chef are willing to be creative with off the menu orders and special requests. The shashimi fresh and larger pieces...are served. The staff is accommodating friendly and prices are reasonable. If in Fort McMurray this is the Japanese restaurant to visit.More
