…..that we haven't found the same quality elsewhere. Occasionally we'll try a different sushi place….usually when we're travelling or when friends invite us elsewhere. We haven't found a place yet that measures up to Sukiyaki house. Their miso soup is a gourmet treat compared to the ordinary miso soup in other restaurants. Maybe you can find lower priced sushi but... More

This was recommended by the conciege from the Fairmont Hotel. We like to be adventuous and we had our waitress order our entire meal. We started seared octopus, then Spicy Prawn (best I ever had) mussles sakemushi, tako Carpaccio, blue fin tuna, spicy tuna roll and Marugo, two cocktails for a total $70 us. Great food, loved it all. We had dinner one evening at Sukiyaki House during a recent business trip. The restaurant is just south of Stephen Avenue and close (walking distance) to hotels on 9th Avenue and Centre Street. The sushi and sashimi was excellent, maybe a little pricier than some, but the quality of the sashimi is some of the best I have ever had.... More

...but there are better places out there. If you are near and need a decent sushi place (other than fast food), this place will be a nice change. Service is average.

Took some clients to Sukiyaki House last week. We all enjoyed our meals very much. They actually had Toro which was a nice treat. Two members of the group had seafood issues so they plated our food separating out the seafood and were helpful identifying everything. My only quibble is that given that the age of the golden expense account... More

Friendly service. Huge slabs of sashimi. Fresh and tasty. Hot saki is a mid with the meal. Tuna belly was the icing on the cake!

First of all the servers are great. Friendly and welcoming. They also welcome return guests by their names. Best miso soup I have ever had bar none. The presentation of the sushi is well done and refreshing. I will be back for sure.

I would recommend going here for some really good sushi and Japanese food. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very good, and quiet. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful on making good menu choices. The sushi is fresh and very good. The mussels are also good, but you have to try the spicy prawns, you will not be disappointed.

Steve is the best sushi chef in the city and the staff are friendly and attentive. The fish is always fresh and well presented. We eat here most weeks and have never been disappointed.
