Excellent cut of steak market priced, sides extra. Non-carnivores also happy; amazing salad bar and soup also included. Very courteous staff. Lovely decor, quiet alcoves for adult dining. On resto-heavy stretch of Macleod Trail at Chinook near C-Train one has to choose carefully as we have been to several so-so nearby, i.e. overpriced and chain-type food, but not in this... More

Our server Terry was awesome. Two of us had the prime rib and it was amazing. The rotisserie chicken was very good and all of us loved the salad bar and the soups. Fresh food, great atmosphere wonderful ambiance!

Had a birthday on Sept 8th, hadn't been there for years, had prime rib, comes with vegetables and yorkshire, ordered a baked potato. The salad bar was okay, the soup was good, when the main course came the vegetables looked like they had been through a food processor, not even sure what they consisted of, beef was very good and... Still one of the best places in town for Prime Rib and big meaty Beef ribs. They've changed up the salad bar recently, and we miss having Caesar dressing and bacon bits. The beef ribs are superb, and the soups are still the best I have ever had. If you have a birthday, they'll serve the birthday gal or guy... More

The decor has not changed much over the years. Very dark and for older folks like me you will need a flashlight to read the menu. Good ambiance for a romantic dinner by the fireplace. Had lunch with a friend who ordered the Chicken Club $15.50. I ordered the Streak Sandwich, which was huge. Top Sirloin with fries was $22.00.... More

Prime Rib is the star of the show and it is good. Smuggler's is one of the few restaurants one will find that really know how to prepare prime rib. The medium size with the bone was excellent.

My father and I stopped by for a late lunch and had the Prime Rib Sandwich and were pleasantly surprised as to the size and quality of the meat. We felt the $21.00 was well worth it. We'll go back.

Smuggler's Inn does not disappoint very often. Great value for food except for their add-ons. I love their dining chairs. Note that baked potatoes are extra charge. Otherwise, they have the prime rib in town! Soups are always comforting and so tasty! Salad bar has a good variety. Mudslide dessert is worth saving room for too! Lots of parking in... More

We had great service this time, although our waiter was a fast talker so we had to ask for him to repeat himself a few times. He made sure we had everything we needed, and really seemed honestly concerned that we were having a good time. Food was great, but I would like to see even more variety on the... More

Smuggler's Inn originally began in 1967 as Bar X Steakhouse, an American company. The current owner, Frank Krowicki, bought out his partners and went to work developing a brand new concept to Calgary. His vision included a mix of casual, late night fine dining and live piano bar. Over the years, the building expanded around Smuggler's Inn, with the addition of Winelite dining room on the west side, and Backstreet lounge and dining room on the north side. As the dining scene in Calgary began to change, Frank too saw a need to change and adapt. The first endeavour was the conversion of Backstreet lounge to Open Sesame in 2000. Open Sesame has been serving fresh, Pan Asian cuisine to happy customers ever since. The conversion of Backstreet dining room to Bolero was complete in 2007. As Calgary's first Brazilian style steakhouse, Bolero continues to satisfy meat lovers with its unique and interactive style of dining. Our latest addition is Tango Bistro, on the west side of the building, which once was Winelite dining room. At Tango Bistro, we bring together delicious, hand crafted small plates and fantastic wine to create a casual atmosphere for all to enjoy. In May 2013, Smuggler's Inn celebrated 40 years of serving mouth-watering Alberta prime rib and steaks alongside many original items, which have made us famous around the world. Four restaurants under one roof keeps us busy, but we wouldn't have it any other way. And the rest, as they say, is history!
