Great location - centrally located downtown and easy walk from hotel. First off: I really liked the atmosphere & decor: it looks like an authentic pub should look. Staff were friendly. I had lamb burger. - it was juicy and flavourful, although I agree with previous reviews that the pistachios don't add much (and they are whole, not crushed or... More

We went to the pub during Stampede Week for dinner. We were seated in a room that was very dark - almost too hard to read the menu or surroundings. Later when I used the washroom I realized the whole back of the restaurant/pub is a brighter and more festive space - that might have been a more interesting space... More

Our lunchtime visit to the James Joyce, sitting on the patio, was a nice event as we wound down our trip to Calgary. The interior of the pub seems pretty authentic Irish, or what I imagine it is. The food was good. My lambburger included pistachios, which was a nice, if unnecessary, touch. My wife's Irish Cobb salad was also... More

Tasty traditional pub foods with an ample selection of draught beers. I especially recommend the steak and Guinness pie. The celiac in our party found a wide choice of gluten free options. We ate lunch here right after the Stampede parade. The street outside was jammed with people and the pub was very busy but we had a table in... More

Whilst we were shopping in Calgary before going of to the Calgary stampede we stopped here for lunch. The girl serving us was very warm, friendly and welcoming. We had Guinness and a jalapeño burger with chips, watch out if you don't like things too spicy, I ate my friends jalapeño as it was a little too much for him.... More

everything is terrific, as usual. But because we visited during Calgary stampede, prices have gone up a little.

Went here for a meal one evening. It's well located and the atmosphere in the street was amazing as it was the start of the Stampede. We ate inside and as the pub was noisy we went in the small room which is wood panelled and has some interesting items in there. The food was good and the Guinnes surprisingly... More

Asked a local for a recommendation on Steven Street. James Joyce was his call and a very good one. I loved the fish and chips. Service was good and prices were reasonable. Patio seating outside was perfect for the Stampede day we were there.
