The people were great and the food was very good, saw some reviews that were on the negative side but I have to disagree, nice rustic atmosphere, good music, very casual for dress which is nice, parking is a little hard to find as its down town what's new with that, my son had the crab and said it was... Well I took my girlfriend back in 2002 to pop the question, she said yes :) Took us awhile to get married 08/08/09. So as a surprise we went back for our 7th anniversary dinner. Nothing has changed other then the big screens not around then! The food oh the food crab, calamari, ribs, and the best part cheesecake in a jar...to die... More

Came with a few friends to kill some time and was pleasantly surprised. Band was actually pretty good. Ambiance was fun and inviting. Service was really slow, though. Overall this place rocks and we would return

Didn't want to sit in a restaurant (although this one did look good inside) so ordered take-out. Easy and quick, good price, large portion and the paella was excellent!

Arrived for a quick lunch. Waited five minutes before being seated. Had a brisket sandwich with a side salad. The brisket was excellent and the salad was a good size and had a nice dressing. Waitress repeatedly said she was busy and surly but another waitress told us a big group arrived unannounced and was overwhelming them. Food came quickly... More

I always seem to forget about Bookers because of the location but whenever I go I end up saying to myself "Damn, why don't I come here more often?!" The food is unique for Calgary and done with flair and flavour in a fun social setting.

From the outside this place looks like something out of a Patrick Swaze movie. When you go in it has that dive bar look to it. The staff are friendly and give you you're menu and drinks menu. THE FOOD IS AMAZING. My wife had the Pulled Pork Sandwich. I had the Smokehouse Brisket. There was enough there that we... More

Took out of town guests to Booker's for dinner after a day at the Stampede. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance was good, not too loud. We ordered the BBQ platter with crab legs for five people and we had so much food left over. We ordered the Big Butt Potato for an appetizer (awesome). The only disappoint were... More

Doesn't look like much from the outside. Week night, large place, half full. Quick and polite waitress. Good beer selection. The sides were good but the BBQ ribs were excellent.

We'd seen this reviewed on 'You gotta eat here', and whilst it doesn't look much from the outside - get inside and it's got lots of character and charm. We took our kids (12, 9 and 6) - who all pronounced that it was the best BBQ food they'd eaten and devoured the snow crab legs. Service was great, very... More

Description
Bookers BBQ + Crab Shack brings an authentic Southern atmosphere to Calgary with a comfortable, upbeat dining and drinking experience. Located in a century-old brick warehouse, Bookers is a hidden gem at the gateway to Calgary’s East Village. Seasoned BBQ chefs slow smoke over 200 lbs of Alberta chicken, beef, and pork every day and serve it alongside fresh seafood, local produce, signature cocktails, and original, house made sauces and rubs. Bookers is Calgary’s oldest BBQ institution where freedom and fun are ingrained in the culture, kitchen and guest experience.
