This is a belated but enthusiastic review for the dining experience I had on two nights in the Fairview while I was staying at the Fairmont. In particular, Alex the bartender was an absolute delight. He had a thorough knowledge of not only the spirits...but also the hotel, was incredibly personable, and struck the perfect balance between attending to patrons' needs while also allowing them space for conversation. The drinks were fantastic and beautifully constructed. Food was also excellent; I initially thought the portions were small but after each course, I realized they were so rich and flavourful that the portions were appropriate. The decor is stunning (I don't typically like Art Deco but even I loved it, especially the colour scheme) and of course the view is unparalleled - it's just a total drinking and dining experience. I had planned to only dine there one night but I had such a great experience that I came back on my third night and it was a very good call!More

Our server was Sara M and she was friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. They accommodated our allergies and I felt at ease, reassured and safe to eat the food. They combined some items on the main menu with the vegetarian menu to accommodate the allergies. The...food and tea were top-notch and very tasty. Excellent service and fantastic afternoon tea. Some people were dressed up a bit and others came in hiking boots. Very relaxed environment with a welcoming atmosphere.More

4 of us where lucky to be able to stop in and have a drink at the Fairview Bar. The drinks were amazing and the atmosphere cozy. While sitting there we decided to have an early dinner and we were all very happy with our...choices. Not to mention the room with the stunning views; how could you not love it! I also want to mention one of the staff members; a young man named Al. He did not wait on us at all but when I first walked up to the maitre d’ station he was nearby and made me feel so welcome and he has such a warm genuine personality. Pay attention to him Chateau management….this kid is a star.More

We were participating in the Rocky Mountaineer excursion, staying at the Château Lake Louise and celebrating our wedding anniversary. Both the drink and food menus were grossly overpriced- $82.00 for beef tenderloin as an example. The presentation and plating of the food was pathetic. The...lobster tail -costing over $20.00 was approximately four inches long and served in a simple plain oval dish. The beef tenderloin was not prepared as requested. Asked for medium and it arrived medium rare/rare. The waiter never enquired as to our level of satisfaction with the meal and had to be hailed to get his attention for water glasses refills. The chocolate bar dessert was tasteless.More

There are many windowside tables (with great views of the lake and mountains) at this restaurant and very good food as well. My wife and I ate the summer shrimp salad, sockeye salmon and butternut squash ravioli and really enjoyed our meal.

Took my mum to stay at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, which was a trip of a lifetime event, and went down for lunch at the Fairview restaurant. Fair enough, they were understaffed or ‘busy’ so we put our names on a waitlist, gave phone...number and told to come back in 30 mins, which we did. Received no text message (as we had at number our other Canadian restaurants), but went back exactly 30 mins later. After queueing for another 15 mins we were told by a very officious maitre d’ that we weren’t on the system and made to feel that was our problem. No apology, no explanation. Then he made out that he could still sit us (remember, this is a problem with their reservation system, not us, and other people in queue had the exact same problem), and we were sat in the bar in a back booth no where near the view. What was more galling is that the bar area at least was only one-third full, and they could have sat us much closer to the windows. We were the only people sat at the back, everyone else was taken through to restaurant or near windows in the bar. So arrived at table incredibly pissed off. The food was okay, and the situation was only saved by an incredibly lovely waiter (who was actually the barman; which is why I think they were understaffed) from Newfoundland who at least made our experience at table pleasant. But we missed the view and they really need to sort out their booking system and train their maitre d’ on human interaction. I’d been looking forward to this experience for ten months and was a complete let down (save for our fabulous waiter)! Get it together Fairmont. With guests paying so much to stay this is not the experience we want. Very disappointedMore

Normally we do not eat in Hotel restaurants but we were sort of captive here at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise - not being near any towns. The restaurant is rather formal. Our ordering local brews for dinner seemed out of place, like we should...have had wine! I was pleased to see vegetarian choices on the menu. We had the parmesan gratin mushroom appetizer, butternut squash ravioli, cauliflower steak and a side of brussel sprouts. It was all quite good. The restaurant location is outstanding, big windows overlooking Lake Louise and the Victoria glacier. Our dinner came to $ 138.00 C + tip.More

Average meal, very overpriced. Service was okay. We both ordered shrimp with the Srirachcha foam, but the avacado underneath the shrimp was absolutely not ripe and was quite hard and you should not serve avacado that way- it should have just been omitted from the...dish. I had the Bison steak- not impressed. My friend had the lobster pasta which she enjoyed. I opted for a side of Brussels sprouts which were seasoned very well but were really undercooked. She orders the blue cheese cauliflower and couldn’t get past a single bite.More

We stayed at the hotel for three nights so tried all three restaurants. In our view this came last of the three and we wouldn't bother again. The menu variety is resonable but expensive and the quality of the food does not match the price....We had three vegatable extras and they were all done in a fancy style which I thought went out years ago. There was no opportunity to match simplicity with a complex main course. The wine list is very expensive, unnecessarily so I think, and I have never seen wine served in such a pompous way even in very expensive restaurants. I am not sure what the restaurant is trying to model itself on. To finish off the evening there was a significant errror in the bill in the hotel favour. In our opinion the lounge is a much better choice and has better views over the lake.More
